the brick wall behind bram shows a cross amidst the ruins. the stake perfectly aligns with it in the middle. the sword and arrow are positioned to look like arms from a distance, so he seems literally nailed there. the sword and arrow also form a cross. there's something red on his chest that isnt blood, which bears similarities to the sacred heart. the pov shows him looking upon a dark mass of faceless ppl in armor, like a king looking down on his subjects, but they are wielding torches, making it seem like all hes looking down on is hellfire.

his only words are strained and they are a plea to his captors to spare his people from the same fate as he's experiencing, much like when jesus called for god to forgive his executioners because "they do not know what they do." the swordsman's legs come into the shot like two metal walls closing in on bram, emphasizing his entrapment and suggesting innocence. the context is extremely vague yet disturbing. there's clearly religious language being used against him, but he does not respond to the address. the chains are reminiscent of thorns.
