i think it takes a lot out of both ranpo and fukuzawa's characters if you dismiss ranpo's biological parents and see fukuzawa as his only or "main" father figure bc that defeats the very point of their relationship, which is about second chances and starting over again i understand the urge to make fukuzawa his only parent since we dont know much abt ranpo's early life, but i love their relationship *bc* its so unconventional to the typical family dynamic, which is what bsd is all about: finding love and belonging in the most unlikely places
i dont like the idea that ranpo "loves fukuzawa more" than he did his parents bc thats just not how love works. peoples hearts are capable of so much love and even if ranpo doesnt bring up his parents or talk abt his life before the agency that doesnt mean it matters less, yknow?
when you consider the case with kyouka its generally agreed that she still really loves her parents despite being in the agency now and nothing can replace them. ranpo and kyouka get along so well *because* they share that same sentiment; love isnt divided its multiplied
