andreaammb rori_07 Insanityburns and samanthanorlie thank you for reading and commenting and making my day on book one Trustfall, hope you enjoy Rieka and Jon's new journey!
3 years later...
The panic of leaving was temporary but loving Rieka would be permanent.
Her memory, her face still was burned in Jon's mind her tears, the last thing he saw was her crying. They hadnt been great when he left and he was confident she had been married and popping out babies by now with some handsome lord that would never do her wrong.
Jon had messed up, he messed up and he tried to make amends and it landed him back at the wall. He was used to the wall, he had wanted the wall what felt like a million years ago now but, not anymore.
Each day had felt like it was sluggish, going through the motions, he felt this pain that he thought would never go away but then the pain turned into a sting, then a numbness and now he was just numb. Still going through the motions the days were better, he tried to keep busy but the nights were harder. The nights were filled with Rieka's laugh, her smile, her touch.
He wondered if he didnt fuck things up before hand if just the two of them- No he needed to stop, it had been years, little Kai was 6 years old now and Rieka was... probably living her best life at the capital. Jon had to stop thinking about her. But living life without rieka was like falling and hitting every branch on the way down, you survive but you are broken inside and out.
"Commander?"
Jon turned around staring back at the new recruits of the nights watch. His new steward.
"Yeah Colin?"
"You ready to whip these boys into shape?" Jon sighed heavily passing rieka from his mind best he could.
"Best get to it," Jon confirmed trying to focus on the task at hand not his beautiful rieka a world away.
"You look so handsome," rieka declared kissing Rickons cheek.
"Stop fussing. Im a man now!" Rickon reminded her.
"You treat Shireen like a damn queen." Rieka insisted.
"I will." Rickon assured.
"And if-"
"Stop mothering me." Rickon begged.
"Yeah mum don't mother." Olly agreed. Rieka leaned into him. Her adoptive children. She loved them so much. She couldnt believe how the time had flown by and yet the nights dragged on. She missed jon like crazy but life kept her busy it was the nights that haunted her with the memory of jons body on hers.
She shook the thought away focusing on her littlest brother.
When she had unofficially adopted shireen from stannis when he went of to lose a war she hadnt expected her little brother to fall in love. Not because shireen wasnt the sweetest. She just didnt see rickon as a man that would fall in love and get married. She still saw him as a little boy. She figured she always would. She felt like a proud mother when shireen asked her to walk her down the aisle. And even more so when olly held her hand afterwards as they took their place to watch the ceremony unfold.
" can you set me up with someone really pretty?" Olly asked softly
" you want me to set you up with someone?" Rieka countered kissing the top of his head
"Yeah..." Olly agreed. " you did a good job with them."
" I didn't set them up. I just brought you all together." Rieka corrected. Kaius smiled up at her and she scooped him up kissing his face all over. "Shi is getting married to uncle Ricky. Yet Somehow, you are the most handsome boy here." Kaius giggled tipping his head into her.
"You wish Jon was here for this?" Bran questioned as the vows came to an end.
"How could you tell?" Rieka pondered.
"You know he's technically your cousin. Nothing scandalous about that." Bran added.
"Hes nights watch. Hes... far far away forever. Im trying to move on." Rieka reminded him.
"And failing." Bran added bluntly.
"You little monster." Rieka demanded. Bran smirked up at her. She ruffled his hair. "Its a wedding. I had an irrational idea of getting married once upon a time you know."
"I know." He confirmed
"To a good man," she clarified.
"I know." Bran repeated. They clapped out cheering as shireen kissed rickon and they were declared husband and wife.
It was time for a celebration, but at the mention of Jon, she didn't feel like celebrating anymore. But she put on a brave face because this was her adoptive children's wedding. She wouldn't sour their precious day, by thinking of the man she lost.
