"I don't believe it."

I shake my head with a smile tugging at my lips. "It's true," I sing.

"Seriously you've dated the same guy since freshman year!" He asks astonished.

I nod my head.

"So, you've only kissed one guy?"

I laugh. "Why does everyone always ask that?"

Drew gives me his look that used to look blank, but now I've come to realize sometimes it's different. Like now, his face is blank, but his eyebrows are drawn down a hair.

Other times he gets the slightest dimple on his cheek because his lips want to smile.

Yes, in the last few weeks, I've been studying him. Drew is the first person I haven't been able to figure out and it's killing me.

"Because you're a beautiful teenage girl, most of your type have kissed many guys," Drew teases.

I roll my eyes and I feel my cheeks heat. "That's not true."

Drew takes a drip from his Diet Coke and scowls. "Still, not many people stay together as long as you all did."

Drew and I are eating lunch in the food court. Phoebe sent us into the mall to order some bolts of fabric.

I've been working with Drew for almost a month and we have gotten closer. He's become a close friend.

"What about you, Mr. Lockmen?" I tease.

He rolls his eyes at me using his last name. "I've kissed three girls."

I smile. "You have a favorite?"

Drew shakes his head with a smile fighting to get a chance to show itself. "Yes, and I would not like to talk about it."

I sigh. "Fine."

We eat in silence for a while till Drew finishes his food. "Do you have any Fourth of July plans?"

I feel my face pale and the food I just ate suddenly feels like it doesn't find my stomach very welcoming.

I wipe my mouth. "Uh yes."

Drew folds his arms. "And what those would be?"

"I'm going with Katie to Tyler's uncle's lake house," I mumble.

Drew stares at me like I'm kidding. When I don't elaborate, he must realize I'm not lying.

"You're fricken crazy," Drew says with a low whistle.

I groan. "I've gone every year since I was nine. It would be weird if I didn't go."

"Won't it be weird if you do go?" Drew asks.

I shrug. "Maybe, but Katie asked me and I felt like if don't go then everyone will think I'm still hung up in Tyler."

Drew raises his eyebrows and picks crumbs off his plate. "But you still are hung up on him."

I kick his foot and he chuckles. "Sorry just stating facts."

"Whatever," I say with a sigh.

"If you want you could join me on the Fourth of July," Drew says.

I glance at him to find mischief bouncing in his eyes. "What are you doing?"

"My ex is hosting a party and I'm going to crash it."

The single butterfly that took flight when it thought he was asking me out dies.
"Nah, I'm good."

Drew shrugs and takes my plate to eat the last of my fries. "Still probably more fun than spending the weekend in a house with your ex."
