Izzy

You would think after you break up with someone you would never see them again, let alone see their mother again.

But here I am, standing in Clair's kitchen watching her drink some type of healthy green drink.

Clair grimaces and sets the cup down. "God Margret, how do you drink that stuff," She mumbles.

She turns towards me. "Look, Izzy, I just want you to know that even with everything that happened between you and Tyler I still care for you."

I widen my eyes. "You don't hate me?"

Clair laughs and pulls at the waistband of her exercise leggings. "No, I've known you longer than you and Tyler dated for."

She walks closer to me. "I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself and doing something for yourself."

"Even though I broke your son's heart?" I squeak.

She laughs. "Yes, even though you broke his heart."

"Izzy, you have always been like a daughter to me and that won't change." She smiles at me. "Have fun on this trip."

She pours her drink into the sink. "Just please don't date some weirdo guy that only eats protein or something."

I laugh and Clair walks out of the kitchen and upstairs. At least she's one less person that won't hate me on this trip.

While I wait for everyone else to get ready I sit at their table and scroll through my phone.
Derek walks in. "Hey, Iz."

"Hey," I say as I glance up at him.

"You excited?" Derek asks.

I shrug and he pours what's left of Clair's drink into a cup and sets the blender in the sink.

"How's work going?"

I smile just thinking about it. "Good, I'm really enjoying it."

Derek takes a drink and then shrugs as he gulps the rest. "That's good."

He throws the cup in the sink and gives me a leveled look. "So, there's no boys I have to beat up right?"

I roll my eyes. "No, don't get your hopes up."

Derek pats my shoulder as he walks by. "Just say a name Iz and that guy will regret he was ever born."

I laugh, but deep down I know he's not lying.

"Where's Katie?" I ask.

Derek points to the ceiling. "Up in her room packing."

I hop out of the chair and skip upstairs.

I walk by the bathroom and I can hear the shower running and Mike singing, All I Want to Be, by Tate McRae.

I walk past Tyler's room and I notice it's creaked open. I see a glimpse of him pulling a shirt over his head.

Wow, he must have been hitting the gym because I know for a fact that his arms were not that big a month ago. I shake my head and continue to Katie's room.

I push the door open and I hear a loud thump and the door clicks shut behind me. "Katie," I whisper.

She sits up while trying to flatten her wild waves and fix her shirt. "Oh, it's just you," she breathes. "You came come out," She calls over her shoulder.

Wyatt's head suddenly pops up from the other side of her bed.

I gasp and Katie hides her face. "Katie Grace, did your boyfriend stay the night?"
