"Like on a scale of one to ten, how bad is this going to hurt?" Tyler asks the tattoo artist as he prepares Katie's arm for a tattoo.
Katie rolls her eyes. "Depends on your pain tolerance," the tattoo artist named Parker says dryly.
Katie grins, "Then for Ty, It'll be more like a twenty."
Wyatt snorts from in the chair beside Katie.
Today the six of us are getting matching tattoos. A paper airplane with little hearts in a trail behind it.
Katie showed the artist a picture of the tattoo we wanted. "But instead of four hearts, we want six."
"And underneath the number 224," I add.
It means today, tomorrow, and forever.
She smiles at me.
About three hours ago we were all hanging out when I suddenly came across a TikTok of a group of friends getting matching tattoos.
Which then led to us hunting through Pinterest for an idea. Shockingly Derek came across the paper airplanes.
We all wanted the same tattoo, but Katie was the one who had the idea that each couple needed it a little different to match.
So us girls are getting the tattoo on our right arm and the guys are getting it done on the left.
Then each couple is going to get their heart filled in the same color.
Wyatt and Katie's is going to be red, Derek and Ava's is going to be a deep green and me and Tyler's is going to be bright blue. The same color as Tyler's eyes.
On the way here it was a fight on who was going to get which heart filled on their arm.
Mainly because Katie and Tyler both wanted to have the last heart.
So we settled the argument by pulling numbers out of a hat.
Wyatt gets the first heart, Derek is the second, Ava is next then Katie, Tyler and lastly me.
Katie and Wyatt got theirs first, then it was Derek and Ava.
Lastly is me and Tyler. As the guy gets ready I notice Tyler's nerves rising to the surface as we wait in the chairs.
"I'm surprised your dad let you do this," I say, hoping to take Tyler's mind elsewhere.
Katie clears her throat. "Uh, he doesn't know."
Tyler laughs. "I bet he'll love to hear you and Wyatt got matching tattoos."
Wyatt groans. "Yeah, I'm sure he will be thrilled."
It's been three weeks since the wedding and Mike has not forgotten Tyler's toast.
It's also been three weeks since Tyler and I got back together. And it's like we never broke up.
It's been perfect.
The needle touches my arm and I wince.
Okay, definitely hurts more than I thought it would.
My eyes flutter closed and I relax. I let my mind wander to my next chapter in life.
College.
College with my boyfriend and friends.
Even though Katie and Wyatt will be about two hours away.
