The FIA has many ideas. Most of them are stupid, the rest are even more stupid. So after the drivers had an exhausting race in some desert, they are now racing in the ice of Finland. Yes, that's right! Finland. So the drivers flew from complete heat 14 hours with RäikkönenAir to Rovaniemi. This is somewhere in Finland and is the capital of Lapland.
"You know, this reminds me a bit of ROC 2022, except that it's going to end in chaos for us because there are no real prizes!" Grins Pierre, who walks with Charles over the large area.
"That's kind of it. We also have different vehicles that we have to drive over snow and ice. But we don't drive in nations." Confirms Charles and Pierre says laughing "You would definitely have to drive for France you little Frenchman." Which amounts to him having to flee from the Monegasque and sprinting through the deep snow.
He also runs past a small group of men, to whom he pays no attention. Max, however, pays all the more attention. With a cheerful scream he runs towards them to hug the first one.
"Hei poika, oletko kunnossa? " Laughs Kimi and Max clings to him. "Minulla oli ikävä sinua, isä!" He murmurs into Kimi's shoulder and the Finn just says "Awww! " And tightens his embrace.
[Hey son, are you alright? || I missed you Dad!]
The young Dutchman also hugs Seb tightly and the older one laughs good-naturedly and puts his arms around his protégé. "What are you doing here?" Max asks with bright eyes. "Racing." Is the answer.
You can see Romain's joy. After his victory in 2012, he rarely drove that kind of cars. He doesn't know how he will do, because most of the Formula 1 drivers don't have any experience with rally etc. yet.
Romain, Seb, Kimi, Jenson and Mark will also be at the start. Romain will accompany Mick through the tournament while Jenson and Mark, and Seb and Kimi will form a team.
The special thing about this championship is that there is one driver and one co-driver for all races. The teams all decide that for themselves. Most of the races are held in the respective teams (Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren, Ferrari, etc.).
At the moment, the drivers are looking at how they drive and what is smartest. For example, Max will be the driver for Red Bull, because he's driven with Kimi on ice before. Checo, like Seb, is the co-driver, while Seb's driver is Kimi. And Kimi against Max can produce quite some battles.
Oscar is driving for McLaren, just as Alex is driving for Williams. Daniel is driving for AlphaTauri, as he has competed in Race Of Champions before. Carlos drives for Ferrari, which makes sense because of his experience with Rally. Kevin drives for Haas because he likes to drive and drift over ice and snow in the north of Denmark during the winter break. Valtteri logically drives for Alfa Romeo and Lewis for Mercedes. After some discussion, Esteban is driving for Alpine, as he made it to the semi-finals with Romain Grosjean alongside him. For Aston Martin is Fernando driving, who has more experience with races like that than Lance.
There are 2 different race championships. The so-called "Legends Race" and the "Race for Specialists".
The Legends Race includes several smaller races with different cars, depending on how far you get. They race Formula 1 cars, rally cars, DTM cars, supercars and, in the final, cars that drive over different surfaces. Puddles, mud, cobblestones, tar, sand, forest soil, thin branches and grass.
The Race for Specialists always adapts to the environment. While in this championship the drivers slide over frozen lakes, drive over snow dunes or drift over ice, in Mexico they would drive over sand, go as fast as they can through the desert and drive over pyramid-like hills so that the cars fly for a short time.
Over several days, the races for the final take place, and surprisingly, there are no disasters. Everything goes well, there are no fights, but the drivers have no free time either. They only have that when the final is over.
The Legends Race drives Lewis against Romain in the final. After the Swiss only narrowly won the semi-final against Alpine, nobody has high expectations of him. Lewis beat Williams by almost 10 seconds. Since the cars are all the same, it all comes down to ability. That's probably why Kimi only made it to the quarter-finals. He just didn't feel like it anymore and elegantly lost by 0.3 seconds with a "Bwoah".
After becoming Champion of Champions in 2012, he shows once again with Mick by his side that he has real talent, which of course is hard to prove with a Haas. Lewis is understandably slightly disappointed, but takes it. The younger ones first have to cope with being beaten by the old hands.
In the Race for Specialists, Kevin and Nico compete against Kimi and Seb. The result is predictable. After Kimi had won against Max, there were no real opponents left for him. So he beats the Dane by an even 6.0 seconds. The FIA is upset that none of the Formula 1 drivers won. The former drivers actually beat those who are driving at the moment in both competitions.
But what can't be missing from such a competition? A nice ice bath. And Daniel films that, of course.
"There are exactly three types of people in an ice bath. We have the normal ones, who notice that it's cold as shit." Says the Australian, pointing the camera at a majority of the riders as they quietly curse and shiver into the cold water. Nando, Mark, Carlos, Checo and Oscar in particular are not amused.
"Then we have those who don't care at all." Daniel continues and points the camera at Seb, Kimi, Mick and Max. The 4 of them sit there completely relaxed and don't understand how the others can be so cold. But well, Max and Seb walk around in T-shirts at temperatures below 0°C without any problems, while Kimi goes outside in shorts and a T-shirt at -20°C to chase moose out of his garden.
"And then we have these two." Daniel grins and films Kevin and Nico. The two Haas drivers run through the snow, screaming and laughing, and keep bumping into each other. The question of who is catching who also comes up constantly as it changes every 30 seconds. Finally, Nico tackles Kevin into the water and falls in himself. Then the two start throwing chunks of ice at each other and Nico tries to rub snow in Kevin's face, which he succeeds in doing, but shortly afterwards he is submerged under water.
While the other riders and team bosses, who have also joined them, look on stunned, Günther gets wet. His drivers didn't see him and sprayed him full with icy water.
The camera briefly captures Danny's stunned expression again before the image blurs and the video ends.
