Laughing, Max talks to Daniel and Charles. Lewis and Kevin talk a little more quietly about moles. Because in the F1 house they have a lot of these little animals in the garden.

Meanwhile, Max withdraws from the conversation and checks his social media. The press conference of the group around Max is in half an hour.

The Dutchman is distracted by a suppressed painful hiss from Kevin. The latter is quite pale and looks ill. "Are you all right? You don't look well." Max asks, slightly concerned.

"Just a headache." The older man waves it off and Max presses painkillers into his hand. "Where the hell did you get those?" Kevin wants to know and Max grumbles, "I always have them with me. Still from Jos." Kevin stares at him and says, "You do know that this is anything but good?"

Immediately, the Dane swallows the ibuprofen, but he just doesn't feel any better. Of course it takes time for the tablets to take effect, but Max decides to call Nico.

He has just finished the relatively short call when an article catches his eye. More and more are popping up, so he clicks on the one from Sky Sport F1.

THE MOTORSPORT WORLD MOURNS

The entire motorsport world and many other sports are in mourning. Two legends are gone at once. The two former racing drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen are dead. Vettel and Raikkonen were known as an iconic duo who raced together for four years at Ferrari. The two had a strong friendship.

On Wednesday 18/10/2023, Vettel fell into a river, causing Raikkonen to jump in after him. According to witnesses, the 4-time world champion was pushed, the reason is unclear. Mark Webber had to watch the whole thing and recognised the alleged perpetrator. No information is available on the police statement.

The water turned red as Sebastian Vettel floated away face down. Both drivers are still missing, but there are rumours that their bodies have been found on the river bank.

For Max, the world stands still. His fathers, dead. He will not see them again. Never. Because someone has deliberately taken them from him. And Kimi only wanted to save Seb. They both should never have died.

His mobile phone falls to the floor with an ugly clang, the protective film can be heard splintering while the young man sits in a state of shock on the red sofa, tears streaming down his cheeks.

The others look at him in alarm. Lewis picks up the mobile phone and reads the article, as if in a trance he puts the device aside and weakly puts an arm on Max's shoulder.

Charles and Danny now also notice and sit on the sofa traumatised and crying. Kevin stares blankly ahead, sadness gleaming in his eyes.

The boys don't notice Hulk, Checo, Christian, Toto and Nando coming in. Checo turns to his brother and gently tries to get through to Lewis. Toto and Christian take Charles and Max in their arms and carry the two kids out. Nico supports Kevin, who is on painkillers and has taken more through the news so he is now quite dazed. Nando mourns with Danny, the two of them protect and support each other.

"Lewis, mi hermano..." Whispers Checo and Lewis claws into Checo's shirt, crying. "Todo va a ir bien. Vas a mejorar. Te lo prometo. No te dolerá menos, pero aprenderás a vivir con el dolor. No llores, por favor. Vivirá en tus recuerdos para siempre. ¡Y los recuerdos lo son todo! Él te quiere. Y tú le quieres a él. Sois hermanos, aunque no compartáis sangre." Checo tries to soothe the Brit.

[Lewis, my brother... ||
It's going to be all right. You're going to get better. I promise you that. It won't hurt less, but you will learn to live with the pain. Don't cry, please. He will live in your memories forever. And memories are everything! He loves you. And you love him. You're brothers, even tho you don't share blood]

It is quiet in the paddock for the rest of the day. It is not the pleasant silence that one enjoys, no, it is the depressed silence soaked in sadness. Someone is taking down all the flags. Only a single black flag is still hoisted.

The drivers have no caps on and take off all the shiny and coloured accessories. Charles and Lewis have started it.

"Max, how are you coping with the deaths?" The Red Bull driver is asked. He stops, turns around and says "Not at all, they were my parents. They loved me unconditionally and were always proud of me. They never saw me as the villian in F1, they cheered me up after a bad race and drove across town in the middle of the night just to comfort me. I love them and always will because they are my fathers."

Next one

I have feelings too, I nearly cried while writing it!

Next part would be Austin race but I could theoretically write it now because I won't do it like the results anyway. Should I? Or do I jinx it with it?

Couldn't leave you guys and girls like that but I think I only made it worse
