Chapter 13 - Amanda's sick?

Prez woke up with a feeling of foreboding and turned to look at his wife and prayed that today was not the day Doc would find something wrong with her in the physical she was going to have this morning. He knew that he would not be able to stand it if the exam turned out badly.

He softly kissed her on her forehead before he slid out of bed, being careful not to wake her. She needed to sleep. She had been pushing herself hard lately and he was hoping that Doc was just going to end up telling them that she had just let herself get run down by trying to take on too much.

Prez took care of business in the bathroom and then got dressed. He was just pulling on his cut when Amanda began to wake up. He watched as she turned and reached to his side of the bed and then realized he wasn't there. She lifted her head and he said "Good morning, my love. Go back to sleep. I'm just going to get some coffee and check my emails."

"Oh shoot. I was having a really good dream and I was hoping you would help me make it come true." Amanda grinned as she raised herself up onto her elbows, then got a strange look on her face, then rolled off of the bed, clapped a hand over her mouth and ran for the bathroom, slamming the door in his face behind her.

Prez was scared and worried to the point where he had to sit down as his knees gave out. "God? Please don't take Amanda from me. I can't deal with losing her too." He prayed as he sat on the side of the bed, waiting for her to come out of the bathroom.

When she came out a few minutes later, she was pale and shaky and Prez rushed to her side to help her back to bed. "Well, that wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I first woke up. I was having the nicest dream but right now, you had better keep your distance. I don't want to give you whatever this bug is that seems to have latched on to me." Amanda said.

"You have been pushing really hard lately. I don't expect you to do half of what you've taken on. If not having the club whores here is going to make you sick because you are trying to cover for them, then I'll get some more women in here. You are supposed to supervise, not actually do the work. This place is just too big. You just rest. If I have to, I'll make some of the brothers take on some of the chores." Prez said.

"You'll have a riot on your hands in no time. Just let me sleep for a while and I'll be fine." Amanda said as she got back in bed and let him cover her back up.

"Okay but I want Doc to come check you out. If you have a virus, you need antibiotics and hopefully he can knock it out before it spreads to the whole club. These kinds of things can go around and around if we don't nip it in the bud." Prez said and kissed her forehead, noticing that she didn't feel warm but he was still concerned.

Amanda was asleep again before he even straightened up so he made sure she was well covered, then pulled the blackout drapes closed so that she could sleep and then left the room.

Prez was heading straight to the clinic when he met Doc and Melinda headed for the dining room. "Oh Doc. I'm glad I ran into you. Amanda woke up throwing up. She's gone back to sleep but can you please check on her after breakfast? I'm really worried about her. She's been pushing trying to cover the duties that the club whores used to do. If this is what them being gone is going to do to her then I'll let them come back or find some new ones." Prez said, not realizing that he was babbling because he was so worried about his wife.

Doc and Melinda looked at each other and smiled but Doc bit his lips as he turned to Prez and said "Slow down, Prez. We don't know that anything is actually "wrong" yet. I'll check her out and do a full blood work up on her. It may be that she just needs some vitamins and to slow down a bit. I must say the house has never been cleaner and her Thanksgiving decorations really make this place seem more like a home than an MC clubhouse."
