Thanks to Dr. Allen's skill as a surgeon, he was able to save Alison's hand but any hope for her finishing her senior year on the cheerleading team was gone. The pins he had to put in her wrist to hold the bones in place while she healed would not allow her to do some of the stunts that would be required of her if she tried to continue.

As it turned out, Tommy's ribs were not broken but it wouldn't have taken more than the smallest bump to his ribs and they would break and they more than likely would puncture his lung so his senior year on the football team was also at an end. In fact, they had to come up with something to protect his ribs in order for him to go back to school and warned him to be very careful.

Both of them were very upset but there was nothing that could be done about it. They spent the night in the hospital then were given some antibiotics and painkillers and sent home. They were both surprised when Thor and Natalie were there to pick them up when they were discharged, having signed them out as being responsible for them.

They allowed them to stop at home to pick up some clothes and other essentials and then took them to the clubhouse. They were each given their own rooms in the rescues section.

Amanda went down and explained the rules of the house for Alison and Prez explained them to Tommy. Thankfully they were only going to be staying in the house for a couple of weeks until Tommy turned 18. Prez spoke to the kids' lawyer and Emily Harris.

Arrangements were made for them to be able to remain at home so long as they both attended school, completed their education and stayed out of trouble. "We have a hard enough time placing young children. These two will never have a chance to be adopted and I hate to see them split up. They have a legal council that has made arrangements for their bills to be covered and I'll just check in with them regularly to make sure they don't need anything." Emily had told Prez.

"We'll do the same. They know if they need us, all they have to do is call and we'll be there for them." Prez told her.

Prez had been very relieved but it only lasted for a day or two as their rescue seemed to open the flood gates of rescues. It seemed like the teams were being called out at least twice a week through the end of the year. All of them from either broken homes or their parents had died or for one young man, his parents just disappeared in the middle of the night, leaving little more than his clothes and a note saying that he was a man now and needed to learn to fend for himself.

"Who does something like that, especially right at the holidays and to a kid who's not even of age yet? He's only 17!" was the question that everyone seemed to ask but no one had the answer for.

He had been afraid to call the cops or talk to anyone at school but he had no money, couldn't get a job, especially at this time of year. He knew he wouldn't be able to stay in the rental property he and his parents had been living in for much longer and his mom had not been grocery shopping in a while so there was no food left in the house.

He hadn't been sure how they were going to react when he had called the first day of winter break but he figured he had nothing to lose. He prayed that they would not be like everyone else and that the only thing they might be able to tell him was either the name of the local shelter, which he already knew, or tell him to call the cops and report his parents for child abandonment.

His name was Beau and he had been shocked when Prez asked him where he lived and then Prez had shown up with Thor and two prospects to pick him up. Prez had obviously been upset that his parents had just gone off and left him. He told him not to worry that he could come with them and they would "talk" about his options. They had helped him gather his meager belongings which had consisted of a small duffle bag of well worn clothes and small box of "drawing supplies".
