Chapter 16 - Thor Proposes

When Natalie came down the stairs looking like something out of a dream, Thor questioned his sanity about driving all the way to Lexington but he had made reservations for 7 pm at his favorite restaurant. He had asked for a private table in a secluded area, for a single white rose to be placed on the table and to have their waitress film his proposal.

Gerald, the owner of the restaurant had teased Thor that it was about time he settled down but assured Thor that he would take care of everything and would not give away the surprise.

"You look beautiful, my love." Thor whispered in her ear as he helped her with her coat.

"You look really handsome too but then you always do." Natalie had grinned at him as he pulled open the door and they hurried to the SUV that Louis had pulled up to the front door for them.

All the way to Lexington, Thor wanted to ask her if she would stay with him tonight but then he wanted her to stay with him every night from now on. They made small talk as they drove along but mostly listened to the radio which he had set to an easy listening channel.

Thor pulled up to the front of the restaurant to the valet lane and when the young man opened her door to help Natalie out, Thor growled at him, causing the young man to quickly move back when he saw Thor's head and shoulders above the roof of the tall SUV.

"Thor, don't scare the young man or he might lose our car." Natalie giggled.

"Not if he doesn't want to crawl around on his hands for the rest of his life." Thor said as he rounded the front of the SUV to collect her. The young man wisely moved around the back of the vehicle and waited until Thor had Natalie safely out of the vehicle and had shut the door before he got behind the wheel of the SUV and carefully drove it to the VIP section.

The host recognized Thor as he came through the door and welcomed him and Natalie graciously. "So good to see you again Thor. It's been a long time. And who is your lovely companion?"

"Gerald, this is my lady, Natalie. Natalie, this casanova is Gerald. He's been running this steak house since before I could drive." Thor said.

"Son, I've been running this place since before you were even out of diapers." Gerald said. "I've got your table all ready. If you will just follow me."

Gerald led them back to a very nice table near a window in the rear of the restaurant where there were hardly any other diners. Several people turned their heads to watch them go by, which Thor was used to people staring at him but he made sure to keep his hand in the small of Natalie's back as they walked to the table. Thor helped Natalie with her coat and then removed his own and Gerald took them to be hung up where they would not wrinkle or walk off.

Gerald handed them menus and told them that their waitress's name was Cinder and that she would be with them soon. He offered to get them a bottle of wine but they both refused, mainly because they would have to drive so far to go home.

"This place is really nice. Do you come here often?" Natalie asked.

"No, not often. More so on special occasions. Gerald was having issues with some Satan's Riders for a while. They would come in to eat, order the most expensive cuts of beef, get falling down drunk and then refuse to pay.

Spokes, Hammer and I brought Prez and Lois here for their second anniversary when four of the Satan's Riders showed up, half drunk and started making trouble for Gerald. They were making the waitresses spill their tray's, tripping up the waiters, making them dump the plates of food and then tried to strong arm Gerald.

You should have seen the looks on their faces when we surrounded their table and asked Gerald if there was a problem. Man, I wish we would have had camera cell phones back then. The looks on their faces was priceless. Gerald being the good host he always is, told us that so long as they behaved themselves and paid their bill and left quietly that there was no problem.
