Beckett

Me and Tyson walk back into the station from patrolling through town the last couple of hours.

"Dad you're still here? You've been here all day." Tyson asked out of concern.

"I know son, I'm trying to get all this paperwork done so I can assure the asshole never goes around your sister again."

"Earth to Beckett." I tune back into the conversation to see two sets of eyes on me.

"Did you just call me Beckett?" I look at Tyson curiously.

"Yeah, I figured if you're going to be with my sister it's the least I could do."

I'm not going to argue that, so I keep any comebacks to myself.

"Anyways, what I was saying was, I talked to an old buddy of mine to see about adding extra security at the shop. I know they have some cameras but I want cameras at every angle. I don't want to take any chances with the girls. Especially since Maggie told me Millie doesn't always lock her apartment door." he lets out an exasperated sigh.

"Wait did Maggie tell you that recently?"

"Yeah she told me she went to visit her today and the back door was unlocked. She said it wasn't like her to be flakey like that."

I try to mask my facial expressions. I know I locked that door when I left this morning. I also know that when Mille went home she went through the front entrance because I watched her.

"I had that same argument with Millie a few weeks ago. I stopped by the shop and she was upstairs with a migraine. When I went up to check on her the door was unlocked. I made her promise she would do better about locking it. I also know when I left this morning I locked it."

Shit. I didn't mean to spill that information. I know Tyson knew I stayed but I don't need the chief, her dad, knowing I spent the night.

Luckily he doesn't say anything about my confession. I make a mental note to talk to Millie about her door situation again. I don't like knowing someone could get to her so easily. Especially since the incident last night, we haven't seen Brodie anywhere since he made bail. He is supposed to be lying low but I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of him. An uneasy feeling settles in my stomach just thinking about it.

I hear her before I see her and I can't help the smile that stretches across my face.

I turn as soon as I hear her footsteps coming closer, as she walks in her beautiful face breaks out into a smile to match mine.

"Hey sweetheart." I reach out to her.

She walks right up to me and places a kiss on my lips. When she pulls away a woman, I assume her mother walks up to us. Millie is the spitting image of her.

"I'm Rosie, my daughter speaks highly of you young man." With that simple introduction she leans in and gives me a short motherly hug.

"Anyways, me and Millie wanted to bring our men some dinner."

"I thought I smelt your lasagna." Chief breaks in.

I look down to Millie, "your man huh?" She giggles and gives me another peck on the lips. With that the women leave us to our dinner.

I groan on the first bite. "Damn, this is the best lasagna I think I've ever had. Don't tell my mom that though."

Once we polished off our dinner we hung around the station pondering around. The night shift is a little boring at times. I know we all rotate shifts here and there. It just makes for long nights when there isn't anything going on. I don't want bad things to happen obviously, I would just rather be wrapped up with my girl in the bed.
