Beckett
I've never been so scared in my life. When Hayes called me and said Millie hadn't left the shop yet and he was getting a weird feeling so he was going to check it out, I knew. I don't know how I knew but I did. The ten minutes to get to her felt like forever. Seeing her laying there with her dads coat covering her did something to me I can't even explain. I feel like I failed her. I knew Maggie left early, I should have been there.
We've been here for hours. Everyone came for her. Maggie, Luna, Hayes, Tyson, her parents, my mom. I've never felt so helpless in my life. I'm in the waiting room giving her parents a moment alone with her, and honestly seeing her like that kills me. Tyson is holding an emotional Maggie in his arms, kissing her head softly, assuring her it's not her fault for leaving and that Millie will be okay. My mom sits beside me holding my hand trying to soothe some of my worry.
"She's okay Beckett, you can't blame yourself for not being there son." She rubs her thumb on the back of my hand.
Looking at my mom with tears in my eyes. Nothing else is said between us when the doors are pushed open.
Chief Brooks glances around the room, "she's awake."
That's all it takes for me to take off running back to my girl. Everyone else in tow. I'm almost certain all of us aren't supposed to be in here at once but no one says anything. I make it to Millie's bed and grab her hand.
"Hey beautiful, you have no idea how happy it makes me to see those blue eyes." I lean down and give her a gentle kiss.
Everyone else approaches her one at a time to show their support. Maggie and Tyson are the first to leave, hand in hand, murmuring they will see us tomorrow. Luna is guided out of the room by Officer Hayes, and once our parents leave I sit beside her bed and watch her eyes flutter shut.
"You don't have to stay the night Becks, I'll be fine, I'm just going to sleep and the doctor said I can leave tomorrow." She tells me without even opening her eyes.
"Sweetheart, if you think I'm leaving you tonight or ever you hit your head harder than I thought." I kiss her head and tell her to rest.
Sleeping all night in this chair was the most uncomfortable night I think I've ever had. I wouldn't trade it for anything though, not as long as I have her next to me.
I was startled by a knock on the door.
"Good morning chief."
"Son, I think we're past me just being chief, don't you think? Outside of work, please call me Kenny."
Giving him a nod in understanding, I look down to see Millie is starting to stir.
"Good morning baby, how are you feeling?"
"I'm okay.I'm ready to go home though."
"The doctor came in about thirty minutes ago and said she'll be back as soon as you're awake to reevaluate you so that we can hopefully leave." I tell her with a smile.
"I came to drive you both back home." Kenny cuts in.
"I don't want to go back to the apartment daddy, I'm going back to Beckett's."
She looks over at me and I smile at her, "Sweetheart, It's your home too. I had Maggie and Tyson pack up your apartment and take everything to our house this morning."
She giggles at me, "Were you going to ask me to move in or were you just hopeful?"
"We've been living together for a while now baby, I just made it official." I give her a wink.
Kenny, that's going to take some getting used to, drives us back to our house and we head inside. My house is full of the people we love, with get well soon balloons and flowers scattered in the living room. The island is covered in food. Looking down at Millie hoping this isn't too much for her but judging by the smile on her face, she is happy.
We spent the next bit hugging everyone and eating all the food that was delivered. I don't think I've ever been so happy to have these people in our life. I knew when I first walked into that coffee shop, that my life would forever be changed. When the time comes I will have a ring on her finger, I already bought it, I bought it weeks ago.
I pull her to me and take her lips in mine.
"I love you Millie. You changed my life in more ways than one and I can't wait to spend forever with you."
"I love you too Beckett, thank you for walking into my shop that day.
