Millie
I can't wipe the smile off my first as I'm running through my routine. I know Beckett will
be here as soon as we open the doors. After we left the station, mom went on and on about how perfect she thinks he is for me. I knew she would love him, I know dad and Tyson have hyped him up prior to our getting closer.
"So Mills.." Maggie looks at me with her big brown eyes.
"So Mags." I counter.
"Oh come on Millie, tell me you're not falling for Mr. Tall, dark, and handsome?" She smiles at me, waiting for me to talk my way out of this conversation.
"He is someone I can picture myself with but I don't want to jinx it because we haven't even talked about what we want or expect from one another." I turn back to the counter with a smile on my face.
" Well considering the look on his face as he crosses the street matching the same look you're wearing, I'd say you guys are on the same page." She giggles as she finishes wiping down the counter.
I look up and sure enough Beckett is walking across the street with my brother and dad in tow. He walks through the door and heads straight for me.
"Good morning, beautiful." He leans over the counter for a quick kiss. I blush in response, sneaking a glance over at Maggie and see her and Tyson in full conversation.
"Good morning baby girl."
"Good morning daddy." I smile at him as I make my way over to the coffee machine.
After making their coffees I place dads and Tysons coffee on the counter.
"Thanks baby girl, I'll see you later." A chorus of see ya floats in the air.Turning my attention back to Beckett he asks, "do you have time to sit with me while I drink my coffee?"
"I'm not even sure how you can drink coffee and go home and go straight to bed." He chuckles at my statement.
"I never have a problem sleeping, caffeine or not."At some point my brother left without speaking to me. That's weird. I look over at Maggie and she doesn't look upset or anything so their conversation must not have been bad.
"Hey Maggie, is it alright if I go have a quick coffee with Beckett?"
"You know you don't have to ask, you're technically the boss too." She laughs at her own joke.
I set about making our coffees. He reaches out to grab our coffees and leads me to a table in the back corner for more privacy. We typically only get a few people first thing in the morning so we're not really busy.
Beckett sits our coffees down on the table before pulling my chair out for me to sit. I love how he takes care of me. I know we haven't spent a lot of time together in the few months we've known each other but we have texted a lot and have brief encounters. Doesn't sound like much to most people but it's worked well for us for the most part.
"You alright sweetheart? You look lost in thought."
I shake my head to clear my wandering mind and tell him I'm fine. He must not believe me because he tilts his head waiting to see if I'll say anything else.
"Actually Beckett, I was wondering what we are doing." I nervously meet his eyes waiting for a response.
With a serious tone he replies, "having coffee."
Cutting my eyes at him, "come on, you know that's not what I meant."
He grabs my fidgety hands to hold them still, "if you're asking about us then we are exploring whatever this connection is. I want us to be an us, I want to take you out on dates, I want to kiss you anytime the mood strikes. I want to take you to meet my mom. I also liked the fact your dad called me your boyfriend yesterday. I want it all with you baby, as much as you're willing to give.
I couldn't hide the smile on my face even if I wanted to.
"Yeah, I want that too, all of that."
We sit and chat a little while longer while we finish off our coffee. I notice the customers are starting to pile in so I stand. Beckett follows suit and wraps his arms around me. I lay my head on his chest listening to the sound of his heartbeat.
"I really like this Becks."
"Yeah, I do too." He pulls me off of him enough so he can kiss me.
"Have a good day sweetheart, I'll text you before my shift tonight."
