there was a time when jeremiah and i used to do night time video chats-
it all started one night when i was staying up late to finish homework. we were texting at the time and he suggested that we call so that he could keep me compnay. so he called me and we chatted it up while i did my work. at one point, my dad walked in and asked me who i was talking to . "it's just jeremiah dad" i had said to him. "oh" he replied and walked over to my desk so that he was in frame. "hey jere. don't stay up too late!" he'd said before walking out.
it was midnight and i up talking to a boy. but my dad didn't care, it was jeremiah.
this all happned years ago; a lot has happened since then. however, a few nights ago jeremiah and i could be found doing the exact same thing.
things are still settling down between us but it feels nice to have my best friend again.
jeremiah texted me that morning about what colleges i was going to apply for and our conversation shifted to talking about the homework we had to finish in order to meet our deadlines the following days. although the entire conversation happned through text, it was basically excatly what we used to do as kids. we bonded in our procrastination and decided that we would both pull an all nighter that night. i worked on my ap government class and while he worked on his concurrent english class. whenever i felt tired i would text jere and he'd give me tips from this sports psychology he'd read.
"i am feeling so tired, but i gotta pull thorugh"
"do 10 jumping jacks and 10 pushups, then do a minute of focused breathing. while brreathing, visualize getting the assignment done"
"ahh okay"
.
.
"i did it, how did you even come up with that?"
"excercise helps you focus so i just kinda do a little warmup and then focus and use visualization. it works with sports, i learned about all that stuff in a book, highly recommend"
"you read?"
having him with me all night gave the motivation to push through, although i eventually couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.
"i can't do this anymore, i need to sleep. i wish you the best of luck, good night!"
"thanks, i'm heading to bed as well. thanks for keeping me company, goodnight."
