"Penny?" Nurse Kate smiled at me, honestly, she was actually really nice, probably the nicest person who believed what I said, and my story. It had been a first for me, no one usually believes me. They all just shrug me off and tell me I am lying. Over time, I just stopped telling the truth to some people well, all expect Haley. She knew it all. Penny scratched at her hand. Right now, she was watching the children's TV show Arthur. Honestly, she had never seen it, being that it played early in the morning and it was 4....she paused staring at the clock again. Yep, it was 4. Nurse Kate got her some crackers and apple juice to drink she was actually a lot hungrier than what these would do, though she wasn't going to start and be picky in fear that they wouldn't bring her anything.

"Your Foster mother is here, and your Guardian is on his way as well."

Guardian? What was she going on about? Penny just looked at her blankly, she didn't have a Guardian. Only kids who get permanent homes have things like Guardian's, Parents, Siblings. Penelope McCaine had none of these things. She knew her foster mother, and understood who she was talking about, her anxiety started to go up. Nurse Kate looked at the monitor confused, but gave her a small smile.

"It's alright, Penny."

As a women walked in, and Penny paused, Janice Reid, or Mrs. Reid, or as Penny called her, The Witch. Yes, this woman had many names, she is nice to your face, pleasant to be around, predominantly soon to be adoptive parents, or going to take one of the kids from her house. She especially liked when the problem kids, like Penny went to new homes. The Nurse Kate said, guardian, she must think that Mrs. Reid the Witch was her guardian, goodness, Nurse Kate really needed to get off shift if she thinks a Foster Mother is a guardian.

Foster home, after foster home, after foster home. The last one, had dogs, aggressive dogs, and well, Penny was now at the hospital. And Mrs. Reid was now here, the Reid's are in charge of the local kids home, or as Penny called it the Emerald City Orphanage. It wasn't a nice place, and though some of the kids like Maggie were nice, others knew if they talked or made friends with Penny Mr. Reid would be mad.

"Oh, Penny," Mrs. Reid said terrified and showing that fake parental affection that she was used too by now, "I am so glad you are alright," she said going to give Penny a hug, but Penny didn't like hugs. She didn't like being touched, but Mrs. Reid didn't care about personal boundaries and hugged her anyway, Penny didn't hug her back.

The hospital room was small, with two green chairs that had honestly needs to be steamed cleaned to get those stains out. Not blood stains, but she didn't want to guess what was on the Emergency room chairs. The ground used to be perfectly white, but it's the ED there they probably never get the time to even clean these rooms like on the general floors or in the ICU's.

Mrs. Reid was in her good pants this fine, early, early morning, Penny wondered how long it took her to get ready when she got the call? Penny had been terrified when she came in, crying, and no one was there for her, she was mortified, when she went to Xray, terrified when they put in her IV, and more. The nurse Kate had been there talking to her kindly, but sometimes it wasn't enough. Mrs. Reid had on slacks, with the black pin heels, a flowy blue shirt with a simple string of pearls and her pearl earrings, with her make up done. It was 4am in the morning, Penny had been in the ER for 2 hours by now.
