Dearest Johnny,

Well darling I see from your letter that you have a mail call at 4:30 that's an hour earlier then I get your letters. I don't get home from work until nearly 5:30 the busses are so crowded that sometimes you can't get on the work bus but have to wait for the 5:15. Your mother has supper already most every night sonny and I have eaten just one meal at home since you left

I hope you did okay in your tests be sure and let me know how you made out. I'm pretty interested in what you do, you know. Darling don't neglect that egg you have under your arm from a smallpox if it stays sore better to go to sick bay. I'm honestly glad I don't have to be around when you get those typhoid shots remember the last ones. By the way mom got her release from the state today that is she is no longer carrying the Typhoid bug. It was all in the kidney Dr. Butler says it was full of them. They sent the kidney to Albany. They took four tests before the operation and all were positive the eight they took after the operation were all negative that fills the requirements for her release. She is like a kid with a new toy. I'm so glad because that means there's nothing to destroy the other kidney she is feeling swell in fact she made the crust for the meat pie today so I guess she'll be able to make your pie when you have leave. I'm going to bake some cookies andnmake some candy over the weekend so I'll send you a box, is there anything else you want?

Johnny got a letter from Barney this morning as well as one from you. I be, he proud. He sure loves to get mail addressed to him. I'm so glad you are getting my letters regularly I try to write every day I generally start the letter downstairs and then finish it in bed. I'm going to bed in a little while because I got up at 5:30 this morning. I don't sleep too well I'm not afraid I don't know what it is I guess it's because I'm afraid of over sleeping that I wake up so early. Just one morning I didn't get up until 6:40 but I had plenty of time. Johnny is awfully good in the morning your mother gives him breakfast.

I just can't wait till you have your leave it hasn't been so long since you left but honestly dearest I'll be so glad to see you just another three weeks or so. Sue's says Barney is going to try to get his leave around the time you expect to get home it will be swell if he makes it.

Johnny and I went up to Sue's for a while tonight but I'm going to stay home to-morrow night as I have to clean. I'm going to house clean next week as I want to have it done when you come home. I don't want to have too much while you're home. I think I'll take that week off or at least part of it. How do you like the pictures Sue sent to you. Everyone is in them but me I guess. Never again will I get sick like that.

Well darling I guess I'd better do my chores and turn in don't forget how much I love you and be sure to write often.

Lots of love and kisses

Ella Mae

PS Why is it that the day Murf gets a letter I don't? Remember Johnny and I are first every time you can write.

Dearest Johnny

No letter from you today was your arm too sore after the double Typhoid shot? I hope I get a letter to-morrow but I'd Lots rather Johnny get one. He is so good when he gets a letter but on a day we don't get one he is a little hellion. I guess it's because he's lonesome and doesn't know what's the matter with him. He was pretty blue to night so we came up home he's going to stay up here with Jackie tomorrow. They're going to the movies tomorrow afternoon. When he gets lonesome I try to take him out where he will be with the other kids. But darling don't worry about him. He's going to be O.K. He says he's keeping his chin up because Daddy wants him to.
