This Chapter will be based in 3x15 "A Higher Power"
Trigger warnings: Talks of Suicide, and mentions of Death of children.
Ryan couldn't believe the amount of paperwork he needed to fill out in order to join the BAU. He swore that once he got through this part if he hadn't had to do paperwork in a while it would be too soon. He also had to undergo a psychological evaluation. Ryan understood the need for them but he also didn't understanding why there was so much of it. It's enough to overwhelm a person. However Ryan soldiered through it got the paperwork done and the psych eval went as smooth as it could.
Now Ryan was on his way to talk to Hotch. He hadn't told Emily that he had officially requested to join the BAU, instead wanting to wait till he had officially been given the green light by Hotch which is why he came in during her lunch hour.
He walked into the bullpen and ran into Morgan and Reid. "Ryan Christensen, what are you doing here?" Morgan asked with a smile and gave him a handshake and Reid gave him a subtle wave. "I have a meeting with Hotch. I thought this would be the best time to do it." Ryan responded, Reid looked confused "A meeting about what?" he asked. "If all goes according to plan you'll know soon." Ryan responded
Morgan smirked then, "Does Prentiss know you're here?" Ryan shook his head, "No not yet I don't want to tell her until it's official." Morgan nodded, "You're secret's safe with us, you better get to it Hotch doesn't like to be kept waiting." Ryan nodded and walked up to the catwalk before knocking on the door. "Come in". Ryan came in and sat down.
After going over some details and situations of how Ryan would profile an unsub they started talking about what this job would affect Ryan's life. "Have you made arraignments to find a replacement for the Baltimore field office?" Hotch asked, "I have I've started interviewing candidates."
"Well you've already shown that you're profile skills are good and they could even be great. There's no questions of your leadership skills also. Have you talked with you're kids about what this job would mean." Hotch asked further. Ryan nodded
He had talked with Tyler and Emma about what working at this unit of the FBI would mean. He would be away some days and his workload would increase. However he assured them that he would always be there when it really mattered. Tyler and Emma were Ryan's number one priority and that would never change. Joshua and Kelli have been great about it with them both saying they would gladly watch them whenever he needed to go out of town for a case, Ryan thanked god for them everyday.
"I have they understand as much as a 6 and 3 year old brain can allow them." Ryan sated, Hotch nodded then sighed. " Another thing, having been in charge of the Baltimore field office for the past 4 years I'm assuming you're used to being in charge but here on out you will be working with a team and I'm the one who makes the decisions and I expect you to respect the decisions I make or as you called them the "Drill sergeant orders" what you do or say affects this team as much as yourself and we need to be on the same page to work understood? " Hotch explained and asked emotionless.
Ryan nodded "Crystal sir." Ryan said with an emphasis on sir. Hotch didn't exactly like the sir part as it reminded him of when Prentiss first started out but let it go. "You'll start tomorrow, You can have you're things transferred starting this afternoon." Hotch then stood up along with Ryan and held his hand up. " welcome to the BAU Agent Christensen! " Hotch said meaning it. Ryan nodded "Thank you." Then he made his way out the door.
Prentiss had just come back from Lunch when she saw Ryan walking out of Hotch's office. "Ryan what are you doing here?" She asked as he came down the catwalk. Ryan sighed "I didn't want to tell you till it was official but I'm joining the BAU." He told her and before he knew it Emily had a big smile on her face and hugged him.
