ARROW HOUSE

HOW DOES ONE kill a man at his own wedding? Now that was a question that ran through Tommy's head as he made his way through the claustrophobic sea of guests in his home. For it was his wedding reception. The after party. The grand gathering. And of course, the smell of wine and cigarettes filled the atmosphere as jazz music serenaded the air.

It was meant to be a happy time, an unforgettable night. Yet, as always, the gangster had other things on his mind other than cutting cake and sentimental speeches.

He was thinking about murder.

The gruesome kind.

It was a killing that he had been ordered to do. And one he was eager to complete, given the disgusting reputation Father Hughes had for handling poor children under his care.

However, between balancing hosting a party, entertaining guests, keeping his family in order and protecting Alena, this task seemed too complicated.

"Tom, this cake is fucking brilliant!" John laughs, still stuffing his face. "Tastes like what they serve at those posh hotels in London."

Tommy sighs deeply. Of course it was fitting for John to be more concerned about cake on a night like this. "That's nice, where's Arthur? I need him." He asks, adjusting his suit.

"I dunno, probably with Linda." John shrugs, licking icing off his fingers.

However, Arthur wasn't with Linda. He was with the very opposite. Tatiana. They were both in a secluded area in the gardens, tucked away under emeralds trees and vines.

"Stars are funny, aren't they?" Tatiana smiles. Her and the eldest Shelby brother were laying on the grass, their eyes set on the sky above. "They're so bright yet they come out at a time so dark..."

Arthur looks over at Tatiana. She didn't notice him staring, and perhaps he was doing it for far longer than he should've. But he couldn't help it.

"Maybe it's cos'...  it's when people need them the most." Arthur suggests. Tatiana turns to him, smiling. "You know, the stars. Obviously." Arthur says, clearing his throat.

He adored Tati. More than he could ever admit.

"My aunt always says the one thing that comes the closest to stars is diamonds." Tatiana holds her cigarette to her mouth, chuckling. "That woman is so fucking vain. If she could put a diamond in herself for pleasure, she would."
