SHELBY BETTING SHOP.
"I've brought you all here, because what we've been planning for months, is finally taking action. And whatever we do in the next few days, our lives depend on it."
The betting shop was empty, and only consisted of the Shelby brothers, Polly, Ada, Johnny Dogs and Michael. Tommy had called a family meeting urgently, and after last night, he felt it was needed.
"Johnny Dogs, I have a task for you."
"And what is this task?" Johnny Dogs had his brow raised as he asked.
He was the only person in the room that wasn't fully aware about the Russian business — Tommy intended to keep it that way. He only wanted immediate family to know.
"Last night, I attended a party at Bridewater Palace. Ever heard of it?"
"No. I can't say I have." Johnny responds, a little confused. "Why?"
Tommy taps the ash off his cigarette. "You, and three families of the Lee's are gonna set up a camp near there. A hundred yards away to be precise."
"Hold on, isn't that where the Russians are staying, Tom? Bridewater?" Johnny Dogs was finally catching on.
"Yup." He nods. "You won't be evacuated by coppers cos' I've just bought the land. You'll be joined by some old friends of mine, some tunnellers I know from the war."
"The best tunnellers in the nation. They're good men." Arthur chimes in.
Tommy stops to inhale his cigarette. "They're going to build a hole under your tents and caravans that lead to the palace treasury."
"T-Tommy, I'm starting to think these days you've gone a bit mad in the head." Johnny Dogs was a loyal person to the Shelby's, he was someone they could count on, but there were times where he just couldn't understand what the hell was going on.
"You're not the only one that thinks that." Polly responds, looking up from her newspaper.
"You'll be rewarded five thousand pounds." Tommy explains, ignoring their remarks. "You'll be splitting it with the Lees."
In that moment, Tommy's plan didn't seem so absurd anymore to Johnny. "I'll take it that a lot of this money has to do with me not asking any questions?"
"Dead right." Tommy nods, putting his hands in his pockets. "And when the plan is complete, your life can go back to normal."
"Life is never normal when you're a peaky blinder." Ada sighs, slouching back.
