(=Sasha's POV=):
I felt relieved when Emma departed. I'm weary of the constant 'human' label during our conversations. The truth is, I'm a mutant evading the MRD's grasp. With only my dad and Betty as my protectors, the fear of the MRD's capture haunts me. I've never vocalized it, but nightmares of their brutal methods plague me. Despite occasional unease, I still feel the urge to confront Emma physically.
But anyway, I'm exploring the Xavier Institute, which looks fantastic. The walls were high, and everything inside was beautiful, 'I wonder...' My thoughts trailed off, and that's when I saw Hank coming out of a secret elevator next to me: "Hey, Hank." I greeted Hank, saw me, and smiled, "Oh, why, hello, Sasha."
"May I ask you a question?"
"Of course." Hank chuckled.
"What was it like? When the X-MEN was, you know... alive?" I asked.
(=Hank's POV=):
Intrigued by her question, I glanced at Ms. Ross; it was rare for someone, especially a human, to ask about the past. As I thought about how to respond, memories flooded back, stirring nostalgia and sadness. "It was a unique time," I began. "The X-Men were mutants fighting for coexistence between mutants and humans. We faced many challenges, from mutant foes to government agencies like the MRD. Still, we found success and made a difference."
I reflected on those years. "It was a time of unity; we practiced and supported one another. We were like a family, sharing Professor Xavier's vision of a world where mutants could be open about who they were. It was tough, with losses and sacrifices, but driven by a cause we deeply believed in.
"However, after the school explosion," I frowned, "Xavier and Jean vanished without a trace. Yet Xavier always emphasized that the essence of those days was our shared purpose and the connections we forged. It wasn't only about conflict; it was filled with hope and solidarity."
Turning to Sasha, who absorbed my words, I added, "Though we faced highs and lows, our goal remains to create change." "That sounds incredible..." She pondered, with her voice trailing off before she asked, "By the way, do you know where Logan is? I meant to discuss returning his motorcycle."
I chuckled and asked, "I don't see why not, but how did it end up at your place?"
"He needed a place to sleep instead of being outside," she replied. "Otherwise, Logan wouldn't get quality rest."
I smiled softly, realizing her concern for him. "You care about him," I teased gently, causing Sasha to blush.
"I-I care because he's my friend. Nothing more," she quickly defended herself before I mentioned the secret elevator. She thanked me and went downstairs.
I then went to find Kitty and Bobby, who were chasing each other and sighed, deciding to intervene.
(=Sasha's POV=): Under ground of Xavier Institute...
After talking with Hank about how this place came to be and as a secret superhero team, I couldn't help but feel bad that everything changed after the explosion that caused Xavier to 'disappear' as he called it. The elevator halted, leading me to an empty hallway. Intrigued, I assumed this to be the X-MEN's battle preparation area.
Later, while walking around, fearful of getting lost, I heard some grunts. Instantly recognizing them, I hurriedly entered the sliding doors as they opened, worried about what I might witness. His tattered grey T-shirt revealed half his strong, muscular chest: 'Oh no, a deja vu is coming back.' I panicked inwardly.
