"You're on hollow ground here, lady. Don't make me regret this."
She raised an eyebrow, unflinching, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips.
"Perhaps you'd rather that I didn't find the Professor, you enjoy being in charge, don't you?—" A smirk graciously crawled up her lips, not leaving my sight from her eyes, she gestured disdainfully at my grip on her, "—Plus the fact that you don't want me near your precious Sasha."
I could feel the tension in the air thickening as she spoke, an electric charge that set my nerves on edge. "Just do your damn job, lady," I snapped, releasing her wrist but not backing down; the fire in my gut wouldn't allow it. "And stay out of Sasha's mind, are we clear on that?"
She leaned back by putting Cerebro over her head and rested her posture as if she were lounging at some high-society gala instead of the Cerebro room, a technological hive buzzing with potential danger.
"Crystal." White Queen stopped before rinsing another smirk as she turned her back on me, "But know that Sasha knows more about you than you think.~"
I took a measured step back, trying to quell the rage boiling beneath my skin. This was no time to let her get into my head or make me second-guess my intentions.
"Let's just focus on the task at hand, shall we? Or you will regret ever stepping foot in here," I warned, my voice low but steady.
"Such a lovely threat, Logan,~" she replied, her icy demeanor unfazed. "I must admit, I appreciate a man who knows his weakness."
She adjusted the Cerebro headset, smoothing her blonde hair down; Forge and Hank stood off to the side, glancing between us like we were two heavyweights in a prize fight, ready to leap in at the first sign of trouble.
"Easy there, both of you," Hank finally interjected as he glanced between us and then at Forge, who busied himself with the controls, glancing back as if seeking reassurance, "Okay, g-go ahead and um—"
"Oh please, I read your mind on the way in." White Queen tells him off with a hint of annoyance before shutting her eyes, manipulating the controls for a few minutes before suddenly gasping and removing her helmet. I approach her, narrowing my eyes with my arms crossed over my chest, "Where is he?"
And the next response was a bombshell.
"Genosha."
Now...
"It's a volta execution, I think it's best that we try to make contact with Magneto first." Hank's suggestion halted me, and I turned around in frustration, "Oh, believe me," I said. "I intend to make contact with him. And it's long overdue."
Walking away, Hank followed, trying to reason with me: "Logan, wait—" "Don't you get it, Hank?" I gruffly explained with my back facing him, "This means that Magneto was responsible for the Explosion!"
His eyes widen in disbelief.
"That! Is not supportive of any evidence I've collected." He raised an eyebrow of confusion at my statement before continuing, "And if there were no fluctuation in the magnetic field, so before we accuse him, we need to—"
Turning to him, impatient to go out and find Magneto to give him a piece of my mind, "We KNOW he's got Charles!" I cut him off with a low growl, ignoring his opinion, "And THAT'S what matters!"
