Chapter 16

This mission could be more dangerous than we expected. If the demon managed to spread fear so strong. It must be very terrifying. We have to get rid of it as soon as possible so the people here can live their lives peacefully.

Y/N P.O.V

The sun steadily begins to set, decorating the sky in a beautiful shade of orange. The only downside of this is the danger that'll come after. The demons that haunts all living human after the sun sets.

"Alright, boys... keep your eyes open for any sign of danger" I said. The box behind Kamado's back burst open as the demon girl steps out. She turn her head to look at me.  "Hello, Nezuko-Chan..." I said, smiling softly at the sight of the cute little demon. Her eyes lit up at the sight of me. She rushes towards me, wrapping her arms around me.

I smile softly and return her gesture. I lift my head, gently placing it on her head as I start to play with her head. Unlike everyone else, I'm rather fond of her. Even though Kyou-Chan didn't approve of her at first. I knew he had accepted her presence during his last moments.

"Kyou-Chan..." I mumbled softly. I blink my eyes to try and stop myself from crying. Nezuko-Chan pulls away to look at me. She gives me a sad hum. I just smile as I wipe the tears that managed to slip out. I place my hand on her head, gently ruffling her head. "It's okay. I'm fine..." I said, while smiling softly. But the look in my eyes told her otherwise.

"I'm sorry..." the older Kamado said. I turn my head to look at him. His eyes are downcasts as he stares at the ground. "If only I could do something that day... I could have help him. If only I wasn't so weak, I could have prevented him from getting killed, L/N-San..." he said.

"Kamado-Kun... it's okay. There's nothing else we can do now except get stronger and live up to his believes..." I said. He slowly looks up to me and nod his head sadly. I walk towards him and gently wrap my arms around him, pulling him closer. He gently wrap his arms around me, placing her head on my shoulder.

"Thank you..." he whispered softly. I just pull away and gently ruffle his head much like I did to his sister. "I promise I'll get even stronger and I'll continue what Rengoku-San believes in" he said.

"I know you will. From now on, you can just call me Y/N" I said. He blinks his eyes in surprise at what I said. I give him a close eyes smile. I hear whining and turn to see Agatsuma crying while pulling on his shirt with his teeth. "Well, you both can too... I'll stop calling you both by your surname too. Zenitsu-Kun, Inosuke-Kun" I said.

"Really??!" Agatsuma exclaim excitedly. I smile softly and nod my head. He cheers happily and rushes over to hug me. But before he could get any closer, Tanjiro grabs the back of his shirt to stop him. "Let go, Tanjiro!! I want to give Y/N-San a hug!!" He whined, while doing grabby hands at me. I feel a drop of sweat runs down the side of my head at the sight of his antics.

"Cut it out! Just because she considers us as friends now, doesn't mean you can just hug her!" Tanjiro scolded him. Zenitsu finally calms down as he turns to look at the older Kamado.

"But you hugged her earlier!" He argued. I let out a sigh at their bickering. I walk over to them and pulls on their ears. They starts to whine from the pain. "Y/N-San! Let go of my ear!!" He whined, tugging onto my arm to get me to let go.

"Cut it out, both of you! We're in a middle of a mission right now" I said, glaring at the two of them. The two of them quickly shuts up, straightening their body out of fright from the tone of my voice. I roll my eyes. I shake my head while letting out a sigh with my eyes closed. "Alright... no more bickering and let's focus on this mission, yeah?" I said.

"Yes, Y/N-San!" Zenitsu and Tanjiro said simultaneously. While Inosuke just crosses his arms. That boy lacked of manners. But I can't blame him, given the fact that he was raised by mountain boar.

I hear a loud scream coming from the distance. My head snap towards the direction. I feel worry growing within me. I turn to the direction and begin running. I hear the sound of footsteps close behind me, letting me know the others are following in suit. I pull out my blade as I run, getting ready to fight whatever it is that causes the person to scream.

My eyes widened when I notice a demon holding onto a man. I clench my hand tightly around the hilt of my sword at the sight of a familiar demon. He took a bite on the man's neck and drop his body. I watch as blood keeps on flowing from his bite wound. His body eventually goes limp as he lost the life in him.

"You again..." I growled out angrily as I turn to look at the demon, glaring angrily at him. The demon turns his head to look at me. A wide grin starts forming on his lips as the blood of the man flows down his chin. He lift his hand, wiping the blood from his mouth.

"Ah, Y/N. It's so nice to see you again~" he said, in a gleeful tone. I grit my teeth angrily as I just keep on glaring at him. "I've failed to capture you once before. I won't fail again. I don't want to hurt you. So it's better if you come to me willingly. Now, come to me... come and be mine for all eternity" he said. A smile is present on his face. He lift his hand in an inviting manner, wanting me to come to him and accept his invitation.

"In your dreams!" I spat, glaring hatefully at him. The smile on his face vanished, replaced by an annoyed scowl. "I will never be with a demon like you. Even if we're the last ones alive in this world. I would rather take my life!" I said.

"What I said wasn't an invitation. You're coming with me whether you like it or not. I have a motto that I wouldn't hurt a woman. But just this once... I'll break that motto. I will have you" he said. Three figures quickly moves to stand in front of me. The demon clicks his tongue at the sight of them. His face contorted in annoyance. "Of course... there would be interference. But no worries... they won't stop me from getting what I want" he said.

"If you want to get Y/N-San, you have to get through us!" Tanjiro yelled out, standing protectively in front of me. Next to him are Zenitsu and Inosuke. They each have their swords pointed at the Upper Moon 3 in front to us. I clench my hands tightly around the hilt of my sword.

Why does it have to always ended up like this? Why am I always the one who needed to be protected? I'm the flame Hashira for goodness sake! It's suppose to be me who's protecting them, not the other way around!

Kyou-Chan forbids me to come with him during his mission to Mugen Train in order to keep me away from harm. Sanemi protected me from this demon during our duo mission, and now these three boys are about to do the same. They're going to get hurt for my sake. No... I can't let that happen! I have to do something!! But what can I do??
