Shikamaru's pov
Students rushed around us aiming for the big blue notice board in the middle of the hallway. It was tiresome constantly getting pushed and shoved as I walked.
"I don't get what the hype is all about." Neji said as he twisted and turned trying to avoid being shoved.
"How can you not get it?" Our blonde friend exclaimed. "It's like a video game come to life!! It'll be so fun. I'm sure of it."
"Really? Participating in a game where we are literally attacked by teenagers with different powers and a vendetta against our race for an obvious reason. Sure sounds like fun."
Neji's sarcasm was evident in his voice.
I thoroughly agreed with Neji. The concept of the game might be fun to the other races but it was not favourable to our race.
Clearly, we weren't whole-heartedly welcomed for the obvious reason of our ancestry. Not to talk of the fact that the winner got extra credit as one of the benefits was enough to motivate me to stay away from such game.
The teacher never mentioned that it was compulsory to participate but judging from the reaction the students had, I had a feeling that there had never been a question about participating.
Looking at the blonde try so hard to convince us, I knew he would force us to participate. It's such a drag.
The concept of sending us back to school was something I did not agree with but understood. However, sending us to a school specifically made for the other two race was something I did not fathom.
What was the label's intention behind this?
Thinking about it made me go into details that were such a drag.
Thankfully, I was saved from thinking deep by a loud shout from Naruto.
His voice was barely audible among the loud voices of students at the board.
We shoved, pulled, bent and twisted our way to the big blue board.
As I scanned the board for my name, I could hear the different reactions from my mates.
“Shikamaru Nara paired with Temari Sabaku," I read internally.
It was an interesting choice of pairing in my opinion. From the little snippets of Temari I had seen, I had no doubt that our partnership was going to be fascinating.
“Sweet! I got paired with Hinata-chan!" The blonde exclaimed with a wide grin halting my train of thought.
At the cold stare from Neji, he sheepishly corrected, “I mean Hinata."
Coincidentally, each of us had been paired with Hinata's friend group.
This game had just gotten a lot more fascinating.
Sakura's pov
I was very unlucky. I had to be the least fortunate person I knew.
Of all the people I could have been paired with, the school chose Sasuke.
Why? I couldn't understand
“Sakura-chan, you're overacting," Hinata's soft voice resounded beside me.
“Says the one who got paired with her crush," Ino retorted.
I was even more annoyed to find out that Hinata had been paired with her crush.
Everyone one else had been paired with a member from Konoha 5, however the school chose the most egotistical neanderthal I had ever met.
I couldn't still comprehend why. We were polar opposites with wide berth in abilities.
