*Tinku's POV*
"Hey guys, do you want to play hide and seek? We have about thirty more minutes until your parents get back!" Vannessa announced to everyone. We all agreed, and Vannessa started counting to twenty. We all scattered around the house.
"Psst! Tinku, follow me, I know a good spot!" A 'Voice' said. I looked behind me, and there was Meyuki, gesturing to me to follow her. So I followed her into the kitchen, and she gestured to the cabinets.
"We can hide in here, each one of us in a different cabinet!" She whisper-yelled. I nodded, and I opened an empty cabinet that was a bit higher up. I looked at Meyuki, and she shook her head.
"Bad idea, you'll fall through, also, Vannessa will look higher first," She whispered. I nodded, and I hid in a cabinet that would be hard to get to (AKA, one of those cabinets that some people have in the corners of their kitchens. The ones that usually hold the spices).
"Three, two, ONE! Ready or not, here I come!" Vannessa yelled from the entryway. I shifted further into the corner of the cabinet. I heard Meyuki in one of the island (a not connected part of the counter) cabinets, but I didn't dare talk. If I talk, we give away our location. I heard Vannessa walk past the kitchen, and she walked upstairs to look for Michael, Evan, and Mihi. I opened the door to my cabinet, and I whispered for Meyuki to follow me.
"Where are we going?" She whispered. I didn't respond, and I led her to the basement. I looked back at her, and I pointed to the door, asking a silent question, 'Is it safe?' She made an 'Oh' shape with her mouth, and she nodded. I opened the door, and motioned for her to enter first. When we were both standing at the top of the stairs to the basement, I closed the door.
"So, I'm guessing you brought me here so you wouldn't have a claustrophobia attack?" Meyuki asked me.
"Yeah, I really don't want to be any more closed in spaces than I have to be. I also brought you here so we could talk without whispering," I explained.
"That makes sense, but we should still be a little quiet, don't you think?" Meyuki wondered. I hesitated, but I nodded sadly. She walked over to me, and she put a hand on my shoulder. "Hey, don't go thinking I don't want to talk to you, it's just, I don't want us to be found by Vannessa, ok?" She continued. I blushed a bit, but I nodded.
"Do I hear children down here? I'm going to check!" I heard Vannessa say. I pointed to a big pile of cardboard boxes and nodded. Meyuki nodded, and we hid behind the boxes. "I don't see any children, so I'm going to go ahead and give up. I already found Minx, Michael, Evan, Charlotte, and Mihi, so I GIVE UP!" Vannessa yelled to the basement loud enough so we could hear. I looked over the boxes, and I saw Vannessa's back was turned, so I of course tackled her.
"Got you! Now, how long until our parents get home?" I asked her. She got me off of her back, and she laughed a bit.
"They just got here. I'll take you to the front of the house, is Meyuki with you?" Vannessa asked.
"Yeah, she's here. Meyuki, it's safe! Our parents are here!" I called out. Meyuki came out from the boxes, and Vannessa led us back upstairs.
~*5 Minutes Later*~
"Hey um, father, is it okay if I talk to Meyuki real quick? I need to ask her something," I asked. Father nodded, and I led Meyuki to the living room.
"So, um, what did you want to ask me?" She asked.
"Uhm, I-, this isn't easy, I like you Meyuki, and it's fine if you don't feel the same way, I just don't want this to interfere with our friendship, okay?" I explained. I looked at her, and her face was pink. I blushed, and she smiled slightly.
"Tinku, I like you too, but let's wait until middle school to get together, okay?" She said, I nodded, and she gave me a tight hug.
"Holy (~bad word~) Meyuki, you're going to choke me!" I told her. I was being sarcastic, and she looked at me with 'really?' eyes. She lessened her grip on me, and I hugged her back.
