Grinch

A week had passed since our Leeds adventure, and things had settled back into their usual rhythm. I had successfully brushed aside any romantic feelings I had about Harry, returning to the comfortable dynamics of friendship we once shared. It felt good, a sigh of relief as if I had navigated through a storm and emerged on the other side unscathed.

With my album nearing completion, there was a mix of excitement and determination. The long hours, countless melodies, and heartfelt lyrics were culminating in something extraordinary. Just one song remained, a piece of the puzzle that would complete my artistic vision.

After a productive morning studio session, I returned to our apartment, the familiar scent of home enveloping me.

To my surprise, the living room was transformed into a winter wonderland. The Christmas tree, adorned with twinkling lights and ornaments, stood proudly in the corner, casting a warm glow across the room.

Cal and Harry beamed at me, their eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Surprise!" they chorused, and I couldn't help but smile, my heart swelling with gratitude for the thoughtful gesture, even if it had only just turned November.

"You guys this is so sweet!" I said smiling.

"My mum would be so proud right now," Harry said laughing.

"Mate, I did basically everything," Freezy said, slapping the back of Harry's head.

I walked into my room and found a set of Christmas pajamas and fluffy socks laid out on my bed. The sight made me chuckle; it seemed Cal and Harry had gone all out. When I returned to the living room, I noticed they were wearing matching pajamas too, and I couldn't help but join in the festive spirit.

With the afternoon free, we decided to indulge in a cozy movie marathon.

I perused the shelves, searching for some treats to indulge in. Finding an assortment of snacks - from crackers to chocolate bars - I gathered an array of goodies, knowing they would make the perfect accompaniment to my next plan.

With my arms full of snacks, I moved to the kitchen, and skillfully measured out the ingredients for the perfect hot chocolate. Milk warmed gently on the stove, infused with the aroma of rich cocoa. I added a touch of sugar for sweetness and a hint of vanilla for that extra warmth.

I handed Cal and Harry their mugs, the hot ceramic warming their hands as they exchanged smiles of gratitude. I settled into my favorite spot on the couch, the snacks spread out on the coffee table in front of us.

"Okay, now a movie" Harry said, flicking through movies with the remote.

"I am not watching Elf," I said, assuming Cal would pick it.

"Elf is fucking superior, Val," Cal said sternly.

"No, it makes no sense. Like, how did all of the elves automatically know that Buddy was from the orphanage, and why did he randomly have a picture of his parents in his diaper? Like maybe his crib, but not his diaper, thats just weird!" I argued.

"Well, it's ten times better than Love actually!" He yelled back.

"What about the Grinch?" Harry asked us both, smiling.

"Fine" Cal and I said in unison.

"Honestly you two argue like siblings," Harry said, now laughing.

As we snuggled up on the sofa, wrapped in blankets and sipping hot cocoa, rain started to hit the windows of our apartment, making the atmosphere even cozier.
