The day before our flight to Leeds was a whirlwind of excitement, anticipation, and a fair amount of stress as I tried to pack and organize my outfits for the festival. Choosing the right accessories, shoes, and makeup felt like a monumental task, but after what seemed like forever, I finally managed to get everything packed into my suitcase. The prospect of our holiday was enough to fuel my enthusiasm, making the effort worthwhile.I was excited to take a break for a couple of days, it would give me a chance to refresh my mind before going back to the studio to work on my upcoming album. It would also give me a chance to get absolutely smashed and take cute Instagram pics.
In the evening, we all decided to take a break from the chaos of packing and headed to our favorite pub. Cal, Harry, and I arrived first, finding our usual booth in the cozy corner of the bar. I settled into my seat, feeling the weight of the day slowly lifting as the atmosphere of the pub enveloped us.
Harry, always attentive to my preferences, ordered my usual drink, a Gin and Tonic, as soon as we settled down. As the night progressed, the gin and tonics kept coming, thanks to Harry's persistent attempts to see if I could keep up with him.
"Harry Lewis, are you trying to get me drunk?" I questioned, smirking.
"What if I am?" he answered back in a cocky tone.
With each sip, warmth spread through me, and I found myself loosening up, the stress of the day fading away.
Josh, in his usual meticulous manner, discussed our room arrangements for the trip.
"Okay, so it is Harry and Ethan, Freya and Talia, Simon and me, JJ and Vik, Faith and Val, then Tobi and Cal"
I was excited about sharing a room with Faith, It meant a chance to bond and get to know each other better since I hadn't really had the chance to speak to her properly although I knew we would have a lot in common.
As the night wore on, Harry signaled for our usual smoke break. Stepping outside, we were met with the biting cold of the London night.
"Val you're shivering, have my jumper" He said, Throwing it at me.
"Thanks, Harry," I said, smiling.
His gesture is both comforting and endearing. We lit our cigarettes, but in my slightly tipsy state, I dropped mine on the ground. As I bent down to pick it up, I stumbled, finding myself seated on the pavement, laughing uncontrollably.
Harry, finding my clumsiness amusing, and joined me on the ground. We sat side by side, drunk and carefree, in the freezing London air.
His arm found its way around my shoulders, trying to balance us both, pulling me close to his side. I leaned my head on his shoulder, feeling an overwhelming sense of contentment wash over me.
"Harry Lewis, you are the best"
"Well thank you, Valentina Smith"
At that moment, with laughter in the air and Harry's warmth enveloping me, I realized how lucky I was to have him by my side. The genuine connection we shared, the laughter, and the ease of our friendship became crystal clear. As I looked up at him, our eyes met, and we both wore matching smiles, realizing the depth of our bond.
