Rescue

(Author's notes-> I didn't want Alex to speak as much just to allude to the fact that he's mentally broken)

After what seemed like a few minutes, a storm started to appear and the sound of thunder woke me up. I tried my best to ignore it but then I saw Alex stand up and extend his claws.

"Alex? Are you okay?" I asked

I looked past him and saw Marty at the other side of our fence, I suddenly started to panic, worried for his safety.

"Snap out of it you two! They finally came back for us! We can finally leave and this whole nightmare can be over for you!" said Marty

"Marty, he's... I mean, we're not in any condition to go anywhere with you right now" I said with a shaky breath

"Oh come one! You two are my friends! Alex, buddy, it's you and me! Remember?"

Marty poked his head through the fence, and I tried to warn him of the danger he was putting himself in but before I could Alex suddenly pounced towards Marty but I held him back before he could do any harm.

"Please, leave us to starve and get the others out while you can. We're better off here" I told him while struggling to keep Alex back.

"But..."

"No buts... just leave us"

I dragged him to our make-shift hut and I tried to calm him down.

"It's okay, he's gone. You're safe, I'm here for you"

I suddenly heard someone enter our enclosure, I looked outside and saw Marty approaching us.

"Marty, please, leave us. We're a lost cause, I can barely struggle to keep Alex under control"

"I'm not leaving without either of you" said Marty

I could see Alex shaking and tears forming in his eyes. I gave him a hug to try and calm him down.

But then I heard Marty starting to sing a song, I was confused by it but then I saw Alex's eyes widen, it's almost like the song was snapping him back into reality.

"Come on Alex, you know the words. Two little words, please don't make me sing this by myself. You really don't wanna hear me sing this by myself"

Marty suddenly stopped talking and started to breath heavily, I didn't look outside since I was still trying to keep Alex calm but I could hear him panicking.

"Um, Alex? Madison? Could one of you come out and help?"

I could hear him scream for help but I also couldn't leave Alex alone, I could hear him running for his life.

"We gotta go help him! Alex, are you coming?"

He just gave me a blank stare.

"Okay, stay put and I'll be back as soon as possible"

I immediately ran after Marty to try and help him however I could, but I didn't know of the dangers that resided on the predator's side.

As I ran to help Marty, I saw the threat that was chasing him. The foosa, Julien and Maurice had briefly mentioned them but they never said there's this many.

I could see Marty getting surrounded by the foosa but before I could do anything, I heard a yell, I turned around hoping it was Alex coming to help but instead it was the giraffe swinging on a vine and suddenly swept up Marty but they didn't make it far.

I started chasing after them again, but as I was finally catching up to them, I heard a familiar voice.

"It can't be him, can it?" I asked myself

I kept running and saw Skipper with a gun and had shot it in the air. I immediately ran to him but it looked like they were creating a diversion.

I could hear Private's voice 'Come and get it!' is what I heard him say.

"Skipper?"

"Wait Mady?! What the fish are you doing here?!" asked Skipper

"Long story but right now, I have a bigger situation that needs to be taken care of after this"

"We're a little occupied right now!"

"There's too many of them, Skipper!" shouted Private

"It's been an honor serving with everyone!" said Skipper

As we fought them off as much as we could, there was a sudden roar that echoed through the valley, we all saw Alex at the top of the hill. The others were happy to see him but I was worried for his sanity.

"That's my kill! Mine" said Alex

Alex suddenly jumped down and started approaching his friends. I wanted to try and stop him from causing any harm but Skipper told me to leave him to his own situations.

I was getting more scared as he kept approaching his friends, but then he suddenly spoke. It was quiet but I could hear what he's saying.

"It's showtime, thanks for not giving up on me"

I could vividly hear Marty talking loudly but then Alex started shushing him. I was relieved that Alex was back to himself, sorta.

"Uh Skipper? Should we...?"

"Let's get out of here while they're focused on the hippie"

We got out of that situation and headed back to the beach, I was so happy to finally see them again.

"Skipper, where the heck were you guys?"

"I can ask you the same thing, but as for where we went. We made it to Antarctica but it wasn't what we expected and turned around. And that's when we found the 'others' in the beach"

"Well, while you were doing that, I was stranded with the others and I almost tried eating the residents. Speaking of which, we need to find a food source for Alex and myself, we haven't eaten anything for the past two days"

"We're on it. Rico! Commence operation Hibachi"

"Operation what now?" I asked

"You'll see" said Skipper
