CHAPTER 3: The Gift Part 2

Eleina screams as the ogre swings its weapon at her, but suddenly Max appears from the side, jumping straight up and kicking the ogre's arm to redirect its attack, barely missing Eleina. Using that momentum, Max climbs the ogre's arm and jumps again. One spin, two spins, three spins! His heel hits the ogre's face with the force of his 1080° spin kick, before landing he picks up falling debris and throws it straight at its eye, staggering it before falling on its back. Then without wasting any time, he picks up Eleina and runs away to find cover, knowing that he can't defeat the beastly ogre.

"haaah! It looks like forcing you to take those taekwondo classes years ago is finally paying off. You were even able to pull off on that monster's arm your signature 1080° kick you learned when you just started." Eleina said, amazed by Max.

"Shut up, Why did you follow me, Eleina? It's dangerous!" Max Annoyed.

"You should speak for yourself, why did you run in here if you knew it was dangerous huh? I only followed you to stop you from getting into trouble!"

"I have something to check out, you should go back before you get yourself killed, I'll go back after I finish."

'Well even if I wanted to, I can't go back since the hole caved in"

"Well we'll just have to find another way out, follow me."

Max and Eleina searched all around to find an exit while also avoiding the Ogres, goblins and other monsters roaming about, but after searching the whole building there were no exits found. They found a place where they can temporarily take a rest, Eleina was slightly panicking and scared that they wouldn't be able to escape and later get eaten, but luckily Max comforted her and told her that everything will be okay.

After a quick rest they began walking again. While walking around they saw a blue light coming from down to the basement, the same light they saw coming out of the building, Eleina was hesitant to go down but suddenly a swarms of goblins from both sides of the hallway they were in started rushing towards them, Max grabs Eleina's hand and pulled her down to the light, knocking anything down to slow down the wave of goblins and managed to hurriedly barricade the door by pushing a large cabinet in front of the door.

Both of them almost got killed. After finishing the barricade they took a quick breather, and as they turned around, they saw an old portal glowing blue, surging with electricity, the same portal that took Max's Father from all those years ago. Max slowly walked towards it, extending his hand to the portal. Eleina tried to stop Max, but suddenly a small spark connected to Max's finger.

Then, a massive wave of blue energy unexpectedly burst, sending the duo both flying.The wave hit every single part of the city and shut down anything powered by Neo temporarily. This event was broadcasted all over the news after regaining power again, everyone was in a panic of what just happened and this event will affect Max's and Eleina's life entirely.

3 Days Later.....

We see Max laying in bed unconscious and his mother right beside him, peeling apples for Max to eat.

Meanwhile in Max's mind.....

He is somewhere unknown, grassy hills stretched in every direction and there's something at the horizon, a city, but it looks unique, as if a medieval kingdom was combined with a high tech city. Nearby, there are weird and strange creatures all around, some are either floating in the air or glowing, it was the first time Max is seeing these unique creatures.Then out of nowhere, everything faded to black, Max was just floating in the abyss, nothing to be seen for miles, just endless darkness. Then lightning started to descend, striking at a singular point. Until, as if space literally breaking, a large crack suddenly appeared that was strangely reminiscent of the portal he saw in the basement of the old lab. Max was weirdly attracted to the crack, as if something or "someone" is calling for him. As Max gets closer the crack starts to get louder and louder and LOUDER! Max clutching his head from the loud noise. Then it unexpectedly stops, silence fills the air. Max was confused from what just happened but then the crack began to start to close, Max quickly tried to reach it shouting " wait! Stop! Stop! please sto-"

Max suddenly woke up from his dream and screamed "STOOOOOPPPPPP!"

"Max!"

Sarah shouts worriedly as she calms down Max and checks if he was alright.

After finding no problems, Sarah hugs Max in relief that he's ok and finally has woken up.

"Ow!" Max yelled.

Sarah lets go and leaned forward.

"Sorry, are you ok and what happened, why'd you scream?" Sarah asked.

"Yeah, I'm ok, I just had a weird dream." Max assures her Mom

"You scared me! I thought something happened to you."

"Sorry for scaring you like that mom. So, how long was I out?"

"You were out for three days."

Max sat upright.

"Three days?!"

"Yes, three days. When I received a call and I found out that you were unconscious in the hospital, my heart almost stopped."

"I immediately rushed to the hospital you were in and when I found your room, I saw you lying in bed, unconscious."

Sarah's lower lip quivered as she forced the words to come out.

"Suddenly, thoughts of losing you flooded my mind that I almost fell."

"I sat next to you every day for three days, clutching at your hand, praying to not lose you, I can't lose you, not after losing your father.

Max leans closer to her mom to hug and comfort her.

"I'm sorry mom, I'm sorry that I made you worry about me."

Sarah wiped the tears from her eyes.

"Promise me, promise me to never do anything stupid again!

"I promise mom,I promise."

Max promises to his Mom then looks out at the window, weirdly with a sad expression.

10 minutes later....

Sarah stood.

"Well I better get going, I still have work to do, I just came to check up on you, I'll see you later after work."

Max waves.

"Sure, see you later mom, take care!

As Max's Mom leaves, Max starts thinking about what he saw in his dream, if it's even a "dream" that is. Max looks at his arm remembering that when he tried to get close to the portal and how that weird energy felt, it's as if from another "world".

As this runs through Max's thoughts, his hands sparked with electricity, making Max jump in surprise. Then he wonders what just happened, how and why it happened, but the main thing in Max's mind is whatever happened to him that day somehow changed him.

*Wait!*

*What happened to Eleina?*

He hurriedly left his bed and sneaked off to find out where Eleina is, to see if she's ok. He quietly went to the receptionist's desk, when the receptionist stepped out for a bit, Max quickly searched what room Eleina was. After searching for a bit he found out she was in room 009, he immediately ran towards Eleina's room, clutching his side with a pained expression as every step hurts since Max's body is not fully healed yet.

Max finally found Eleina's room, as he gripped the handle he hesitated.

*Eleina was injured because of me*

*Because of me, Eleina was in that dangerous situation*

*Because of me, we almost died and she might be in critical condition!*

*Because of ME!*

Max grips the door handle tighter.

As Max was angry at himself for what he did, started to calm himself down.

*I'll find out when I open this door.* Max resolves his will

Max finally calmed down and gained enough courage, he slowly opened the door and a bright light spilled out of the room. Max froze as he saw......
