AEGLECREST DI MARCO HIGH
After class, I hit up the cafeteria, Snagging an empty table, I plopped down along with my friends, ready to chow down on some grub.
"Where's Rhead?" Dior asked, eyeballing Sarah, who was already settling in across from us.
"I ain't his mother," She retorted, settling in. "He's been chilling with the dudes all day."
Giving Sarah a sideways glance, I wonder why aren't Rhead and Sarah all lovey-dovey or ready to throw down like Hulk vs. Thanos? They need to communicate one way or another.
My train of thought derailed when I spotted Kaylo sauntering into the cafeteria.
"Hey, Kay!" I hollered, flashing him a grin. "Join us," I said, grinning like a kid in a candy store ever since Kaylo strutted into the cafeteria.
His eyes wandered between Sarah and Dior, his usual dead gaze in place as he made his way to us.
"Kaylo, ever tried bibimbap?" Sarah burst out, practically buzzing with excitement about today's lunch choice.
He glanced at her and shook his head. "No, I never had it,"
"Guys, we're doing bibimbap today. I'm telling you, it's gonna blow your taste buds away. We'll be full till tomorrow!" Her enthusiasm overflowed as she raved about the dish, her big blue eyes sparkling.
Who are we to turn down a cute girl's food recommendation? It's basically a crime.
"As if we have a say," Dior quipped, rolling her eyes.
Sarah smirked and hopped out of her seat.
"I'll go grab our grub," she announced, striding off to place our order.
Dior watched as Sarah left, then turned to Kaylo, who still seemed unsure about sitting down. He scratched his head, realizing he should take the lead and start a conversation.
"Why stand when you can sit, right?" Dior grinned at me, pretending to be clueless. "Come on, the bibimbap's calling our names today," he muttered to himself.
I shot Kaylo a look and gestured for him to take the empty seat next to Dior. He quietly complied, stealing a glance at me before averting his eyes.
I turned to Dior and gave him a subtle nod, silently urging him to start chatting with Kaylo.
He wrinkled his nose, shifting his gaze to Kaylo before abruptly closing his eyes. It was obvious he was internally panicking.
"Oh, by the wayyy," Dior drawled, gearing up to break the ice with Kaylo, something I secretly applauded.
"You have a resting bitch face," Dior blurted out.
That comment came out of left field.
Kaylo just stared at him for a moment, then nodded slightly in response. I wasn't sure if Dior caught on, but having spent time with Kaylo, I knew he took it as a compliment and agreed with a nod.
