I ran down the stairs as fast as I could. Of course I was late to breakfast, leaving everyone waiting on me. This morning I thought it was good idea to get in a quicky before breakfast and it ended up lasting longer than it should've. On top of that the girl left a hickey on my neck for the entire world to see. God knows I don't like having evidence of my sexual activities on my body, and the royal family of Balemont stayed over last night, meaning they would have breakfast with us.

I was walking around with a massive hickey on my neck and to make it worse I was late, which would bring even more attention to me, and my neck. I caught my breath before walking in the garden.

As I expected, all eyes were on me and on my neck. I cleared my throat. "Good morning everyone."

"Looks like a good morning indeed." My brother said, motioning to my neck. I kicked him under the table, his grunt in pain made it obvious what just happened.

My mother glared at me and my brother, then glared at my neck even harder. Her eyes finally left my neck when the severs came in, serving our plates.

I glanced over at Nyx, who was sitting to the left of me. His eyes were on the plate in front of him with an unreadable expression on his face. I wanted to ask if he was okay but then the memory of lasts nights events flashed through my mind and I got angry all over again.

Maybe I should ask if he talked to the lady that he was dying to talk to. I cleared my throat, accidentally catching everyone's attention once again. "So did you talk to the lady?" I asked him.

He glanced at me, then quickly glanced towards his parents, who also seemed interested in our conversation although they tried to hide it and keep neutral expressions. "Yes I did, thank you for your concern." He replied with a smile.

It was clearly a fake smile. He might fool others but as someone who's been giving fake smiles when talking to someone for as long as I can remember, I know what a fake smile looks like, and how to make them appear genuine.

This seems like a topic he doesn't want to talk about but being the asshole I am, I decided to say something else. "Really? It seemed like she wasn't too interested in talking to you." I took a sip of my coffee but I didn't miss the way his eye twitched.

Prince Nyx glanced around the table with a laugh. "Not everyone is interested in this conversation." He glared at me, seemingly unable to hide his irritation at this point.

"But I am, Prince Nyx. So please tell me, how did your conversation go?" Of course I saw how irritated he was. Serves him right for leaving me to go speak with someone else at my own ball. As if I was some dirty peasant. Some lowlife he couldn't spare a second glance to.

"It went very well." He gritted out, barely holding his anger back.

I smiled at his anger. "That's good, I'm glad you were able to talk to her. Although it wasn't very princely of you to do what you did." I said, not elaborating because he already knew what I was referring to.
