Liam pov:
"Yeah." I sighed. "It is." I lifted my head from his shoulder and looked him in his storm grey eyes. They held calmness and peacefulness that I'd never seen. He looked at ease. "Were you serious about wanting to plant something?"
"Hmmm." Nyx looked at the garden. "I've always wanted to plant with my own two hands, but since princes aren't allowed to get their hands dirty, I've never had the chance to do it."
"Honestly? I wasn't allowed to plant anything either, but when I was eleven I helped an elderly lady plant her son's favorite flower." I looked at the people watering flowers and laughing with other civilians. "Other than that one experience, I'm as clueless as the next Prince." I looked at Nyx. "We could learn together, but it would cause you to go against every royal expectation. Are you up for that?"
"Tonight, I'm up for anything." He rubbed his hands together. "Where do we begin?"
I stood up and grabbed his hand, leading him to where the gardening supplies were. The people of Avalon bring their own supplies but I always make sure they have everything they need to keep this garden beautiful and thriving. "Do you have a favorite flower?" I asked as I looked at the bags of flower seeds.
"Petunias have to be my favorite."
I hummed. "I like roses." I looked at an older lady who was also looking at the seeds. "Do you know how to plant roses and petunias?"
She turned to me with a bright smile. "Of course, darling." Her smile dropped when she saw me. "Oh my!" She dropped her empty pot as she tried fixing her dress. I smiled as she bowed. "Your highness."
I bent down to grab the pot and gave it to her with a smile. "Do you-"
"Oh! Yes. I can teach you, my prince." She grabbed the seeds for the flowers we wanted to plant. I grabbed two flower pots. Nyx grabbed two watering cans and went to fill them up.
The woman sat down on the dirty ground, sitting the supplies in front of her. I frowned and looked at Nyx. "Do you want to sit....on the ground?"
"She's doing it." Nyx followed the lady.
My eyes widened but I sat, nevertheless. The lady smiled, completely oblivious to my reluctancy. "Thank you for helping us, miss......" I trailed off, not knowing her name.
"Vivian." She smiled.
I returned the smile. "Miss Vivian."
"Oh no, just Vivian, my prince." I nodded.
She showed us the basics of planting a flower in a pot. I don't know what I expected, but it sure wasn't a pot of wet dirt and hidden seeds. I looked at the pot. "So when does the flower start to show?" I asked, standing up. Nyx stood as well, fixing his suit.
"Within a few weeks. You have to make sure to water it often as well as make sure it has plenty of sunlight. If you do that, your rose will bloom in no time." Vivian stood up and dusted herself off. "I must get going, my prince."
