3. Friday Night Bites

The weekend had gone quickly. Lexa, Caroline, and Jeremy had spent the weekend up at the Lakehouse. Between Lexa and Caroline, they had managed to tell Jeremy everything about Mystic Falls, and the families who live there. They taught him how to prevent certain mind tricks from their fanged friends, and started a physical routine for him to build him up to defence. Jeremy was surprised to see how strong and fast Caroline was. He always believed her to just be a shopaholic cheerleader. Lexa and Caroline explained how they kept out of the spotlight by acting a certain way.

Jeremy and Lexa really bonded. She explained how she and Elena were adopted, but that they were cousins. She would always think of him as her younger brother. He returned the sentiment. There was also a new respect for his Uncle John too.

Monday came, and Lexa and Caroline found themselves back at school. Cheerleading started again today, and the two were excited. Caroline was going round talking to the other cheerleaders to get ready. Tiki was missing though.

Lexa and Caroline ended up joining Bonnie and Elena out in the quad.

"I'm not saying don't date the guy. I'm just saying take it slow" Bonnie told Elena. Lexa and Caroline looked at each other. Had they missed something?

"You were the one who said to go for it"

"Now I'm saying take it slow"

"Why the about-face?"

"It's not an about-face. You're single for the first time in your entire high school career. It's the perfect time to play the field"

"Oh, because I'm so that girl" Elena said sarcastically. Lexa thought that it was actually true. She wouldn't be surprised if Elena ended up playing with multiple men's hearts later in life. "Seriously, what are you not saying?"

"It's stupid..."

"Bonnie..."

"I accidently touched Stefan. And I got a really bad feeling"

"Is that it? Bonnie" Elena scolds.

"It was bad, bad!"

"Is this the whole witch mojo thing again?"

"You know what? I'm just concerned. This is me expressing concern about my best friend's new boyfriend"

"And I love you for it, I do. But I feel good. It's been a hard year, and I'm starting to kind of feel like things are getting back to normal again. And you know what? Stefan is a big part of that"

She was making a big thing out of a guy she'd met the week before. Lexa and Caroline headed off away for the two drama queens' arm-in-arm. They notice Stefan heading towards Elena and Bonnie. They sit at a bench slightly further away to watch the drama unfold. They can't hear anything, but they watch their body language.

Bonnie walks off as soon as Stefan joins them. That made Lexa laugh. She wasn't hiding her witchiness well. If a baby vampire made her uncomfortable, Lexa couldn't wait to see her reaction to an older one.

Caroline watched Tyler winding up to make a long throw. She nudged Lexa to point it out. Matt was trying to stop him but the ball was heading straight towards Stefan. At the last possible second, Stefan sped around and caught the ball perfectly. The look on Tyler's face was priceless. Elena seemed delighted at Stefan showing off. When Stefan threw it back, he put a fair amount of his vampire strength into it. Tyler was knocked back at the impact. Lexa and Caroline were in fits of giggles.

"I bet you ten bucks Elena gets Stefan to try out for the football team later" Lexa tells Caroline.

"Oh, you're on"
