CHAPTER 20!

VALERIE POVS

"Shit"I mutter under my breath.
They're giving a week, a fucking week. That's not long enough for a full recovery especially after a fire.

"What about Chris?"Mr Miller questions. "He's....hanging on. At least the best he can"the doctor implies.

He's lying.

We all know it, we all saw how bad they both looked.

"The best you can do right now is go back to your normal life, we'll try everything we can to help your friends and get in touch when we have improvement."the doctor carry's on, instead of listening I can only hear the muffle sounds of his voice.

The loud beats of my heart drum in my ears, I don't know what will happen if they don't make it.

How it'll effect us all, Damon ,Asher....Grayson.

I haven't been close with them all for a long time but I know Graysons known Chris since they were little. I can't even imagine the pain he must be experiencing.

I grew really fond of these people. Trustful people don't come into everyone's life and I'm so grateful that I've met these amazing people. Except now it's a really bad moment.

GRAYSONS POV

Athena killed Someone.

Not anyone, Cesar.

He deserved to die. He messed up Athenas life, played round with Chris and Haven as they were puppets hanging on string. He'd broken into Athenas dorm.

The guy was out of control. He had to be stopped, she didn't have a choice.

We're in the car sitting in silence, all you can hear is the heavy breathing. She was scared, not because she murdered Cesar, because she knows it's about to get worse.

"You know what's going to happen, right?"she broke the silence, turning her gaze from the window to me. Her face covered in blood, her eyes wide and her face pale. "Yes" I said in an almost whisper. "I know"I moved my hand from the gear. "Are you going to you know.....face him?"

"Yes." She announced "im ready to kill that motherfucker"

TIME SKIP (two weeks)

ATHENAS POV

it's been two weeks and nothing.

We payed the hospital to keep Haven in despite the many times they told us she wouldn't get better , we didn't change our minds. Ashers going insane, Damien and Val are trying to stay strong, as for me and Grayson...we've been planing on how to kill my father.

"No he wouldn't come without a plan he isn't stupid. He wouldn't fall for that even if the police get involved, don't forget he's a rich man and rich people can get away with anything."I answer back after Graysons suggestion to inform the police. Which I wouldn't say was stupid, but it wouldn't have worked.

"There's only one way to weaken him" Val said"Astrid. "I look at her, good idea but how would we even get Astrid? No one's seen her since Cesar.

And then... it's like time stops. "Holy shit..."I announce straightening in my seat. "Athena?"Damien asks as they all look at me puzzled. "Think about it...Astrid is my dads most important thing in life, he never left her. He still talked to her even after leaving mum and isa he thought I didn't know but I did. He loves Astrid to much to leave her, she brings him power so why would he let her move across the globe with me?" I question looking around at the four of them. "Athena that's insane"Grayson replies catching onto what I'm saying.

"He never left. He's always been lurking around where Astrid is, knowing every move, every beat our heart makes, what classes we take, what time we go out, who we hang out with. He knows it all but why did he send Cesar? Why Cesar out of everyone?"I say rapidly.

"Because he was an easy target"Grayson completes my sentence as if he's taking my words from inside my brain. "That night, before I left we had argued and he was extremely angry, of course my father found out about it, and he saw it as an opening. He sent Cesar after us not only because he already knew me but because he actually wanted me dead. But why? Why would he want me dead if all I did was move? Why would he reach that extent."I state firmly looking back and forth between them all.

"The motive"Val starts to catch on "what was his motive?"she carries on. "There's no way he wanted her dead because of that, there had to be another reason." Val finished.

I take a moment to think, what could have been his motive? What did I do or didn't do?

"What if...I wasn't the one he wanted dead? Yes he tried to kill me but what if he was just trying to get to someone else" I say as they all look at me confused. Then Damien speaks out "he wanted Astrid. You said you grew up with Cesar right? So did Astrid. That means Cesar must have known your dad and I'm guessing they could have been quite close."

"What if he envied Astrid for the love your father showed towards her....he didn't grow up with a 'loving' dad like Astrid." He trails off

"Holy shit..."Ashers strikes up from his seat. "Cesar, he messed with us because he thought it would make Athena weaker, then Astrid would strike getting closer to him, Astrid obviously wants Athena dead so Cesar saw it as an opening. He thought Astrid would follow but he calculated wrong." He announces, it makes sense.

Cesar was always fond of my father.

Not a long chapter I know but I've been really busy and I am sorry I will try to get the last couple chapter out as the story is coming to an end, I am sorry that it's short but I am trying my best!
