Marella didn't expect them to show up at her house, but once they did, she stayed outside to talk to them. "So, Sophie isn't here?" She asked. "Well..." Dex said, and Sophie showed herself. Marella jumped. "Since when..." Her voice trailed off when she noticed that Sophie had glowing cracks all along her arms, legs, and probably face, too. "What in the name of the Ancients happened? Are you ok?" Sophie nodded. "Except..." She told Marella the story. "So, if you have every elven ability, you're, like...the super-elf, right?" Sophie shook her head. "Elysian said something about how I should be under their control. But, clearly, I'm not, and now she's sending Ruy after me." She went to rip off an itchy eyelash, but lowered her hand when an orange flame danced above it. "Clearly, you can't control certain powers." Marella pointed out. Sophie closed her hand, snuffing out the flame, even though it begged to be set free. Now Sophie understood what Marella had meant when she'd said that her ability had called to her. But Sophie couldn't let the flames out. She wasn't going to be mentally unstable if she could help it. "I was hoping she would tell you this." Marella started, "But Maruca's managed to get her ability back." "That's great!" Dex said. "Isn't it?" "Oh, it is. But I'm still working on getting mine back." Keefe perked up. "Maybe if you go through your exercises with Sophie, it'll help. Plus, Sophie needs to control her powers until we figure out how to get rid of the ones Elysian added." Marella looked at Sophie. "Your eyes are creepy, you know that? It's just because they're white without pupils and also glowing. But I haven't actually tried that, Keefe. It might work." Keefe nodded and they stayed there for a few hours, watching as Sophie and Marella did the exercises.
Chapter 24
"Ok, so basically, Elysian made Sophie their weapon of destruction?" Biana asked after they explained everything. They had been outside of Marella's when Biana showed up. And when she looked at Sophie, a look of intense fear had shown on her face. "Why does that not surprise me?" She added when the rest of them nodded. Sophie shrugged. "Maybe because of what we've been through the whole time we were friends." "That does seem reasonable." Marella agreed, tugging at one of the braids scattered through her hair. "Anyway," Dex said, "I've managed to find Tiergan and Tam. And it looks like they somehow made it above ground, in... Eternalia?" Sophie was glad she wasn't the only one who was confused. "But how did they get above ground? They can only do that by using an Unmapped star. And they only had the one that took them underground." Dex shrugged. "Maybe a dwarf found them while on an assignment or something. It's the only other explanation that makes sense." Keefe wrapped an arm around Sophie's shoulders. "So, is it just us, or are we getting the whole gang?" "You already know I go where Sophie goes." Sophie turned around to find Sandor and rushed toward him to give him a hug. "But...how did you get out?" Sandor smirked. "I've told you, they can't keep me down." Sophie rolled her eyes and pulled away. Sandor didn't say anything about Sophie's new look, whether he noticed or not. She turned to her friends. "It's going to just be us. If we gathered the whole gang, we'd have to explain. Is everyone ready?" Sandor gripped his sword, the smirk from his face now gone. Keefe smirked and nodded his agreement. Biana vanished, then reappeared. And Marella stood, standing next to Biana. Sophie knew they weren't completely ready. No one ever was. Not even her. She knew what had happened in Eternalia. She'd seen it. But if she wanted to help her friends, she had to be ready. "Then let's go."
(A/N: For this story, I'm going to start doing three chapters at a time, 'cause this is FORTY-FIVE chapters long! Heh, sorry...But It's worth it, I PROMISE!)
Chapter 25
Sophie had made sure to put on the white, long-sleeve tunic hanging in her closet, with a cape that had many pockets, and looked in the mirror. Marella had been right about the glowing white eyes. Sophie wasn't surprised that she also had the rainbow cracks on her face. "How am I going to hide this?" She whispered to herself, agitated. Could she just vanish and dodge the crowds that would be in Eternalia? Who was she kidding? She was probably the clumsiest elf alive. As she glared at herself in the mirror, the glowing eyes and rainbow cracks disappeared, bringing her back to her original self. "Huh. I guess that works." She also made sure to stash extra weapons–mainly throwing stars–in her cape. Then, she crept out of her room, down the stairs, and out the door, hoping she wouldn't wake Grady or Edaline, since it was still dark out. She met her friends under Calla's Panakes tree, waiting next to Silveny and Greyfell. They figured it would be faster if they teleported. The reason Sophie wasn't doing it was because she needed her energy in case they ran into Ruy or Elysian. Sophie hopped onto Silveny, with Keefe right behind her, his arms around her waist, and Sandor riding behind him. Silveny had said that the goblin's weight didn't bother her, and when Sandor had climbed on, she hadn't even flinched. Marella and Dex hopped onto Greyfell. Can you take us to Eternalia? Sophie transmitted to both of them. YES! Silveny responded, as Greyfell flapped his wings. "Hold on!" She said to her friends. They took off, very quickly, and she swore Marella was screaming. Then, a loud thunderclap echoed through the sky, and they flew through the portal, determined to reach Tiergan and Tam.
