•Naomi and Leroy's story

Naomi had never expected to find herself in detention. She was known as the quiet, diligent student who always arrived at class on time and completed her assignments with care. However, one day wasn't such a good day for her. She was late to class and was sent to detention.

In a dim detention room, Naomi watched the clock, every second feeling long. The room was quiet, except for the occasional paper shuffling and coughs from other students. Then, Leroy, a tall and good-looking guy with brown skin. He had short hair and a strong hairline. When he smiled, he had cute dimples on his cheeks. He also had a strong, muscular build. Leroy's appearance showed that he was confident and friendly, making him stand out in the room.

Leroy approached her and said, "You're a good kid, right? How come you in here?"

Naomi explained that she was late to class and how her day hadn't been going so well since she woke up. She practically woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Then Leroy went behind her ear then magically appeared a small cute lily in his hand.

Naomi chuckled, "My favorite flowers are Orchids! But where did you get this from?

Leroy smiled, "Over there on the teacher's desk and I'll keep that in mind next time."

He put the flower in her hair and he stared deep into her eyes. Naomi looked off and tried her hardest not to smile then Leroy asked, "Why are you being so shy?"

She asked, "Why you gotta stare so hard?"

Leroy teased, "Because it's making you anxious and you look cute when you get nervous."

Naomi's eyes widened then she looked at him and asked, "Why you in here?"

Leroy sighed, "My teacher tried to play me like I was dumb. She knew she lost my paper but then tried to blame it on me, claiming that I never turned it in. So I gave her a piece of my mind."

Naomi chuckled, "I'm sorry about that!"

Leroy shrugged, "It's cool! But hey let me ask you a question."

"Mhm, what?"

Leroy asked, "What are the chances that I can see you more after today?"

Naomi thought to herself for a moment and replied, "I mean we don't have a class together, I only get to see you at lunch so I don't know."

Leroy smiled and asked, "How about I make a deal with you? You play video games?"

Naomi shook her head and said, "I read the Bible though!"

Leroy snapped his fingers and said, "If you tell me your favorite Bible verse and I guess what chapter it comes from. I get to take you out tomorrow for lunch. If you guess mine, then I get to take you out anyway!"

Naomi laughed, "So what you're saying is that we're going to be going on a date regardless?"

Leroy gave a mischievous smile, "That's only if you let me."

Naomi blushed and said, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."

Leroy guessed, "Psalms? No proverbs! Right?"

Naomi replied in shock, "Yes!! Now tell me yours."

Leroy quoted, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and hope."

Naomi thought for a moment and guessed, "Jeremiah?"

Leroy nodded, impressed, "Yes ma'am!"

Naomi, curious, asked, "Why is that your favorite?"
