.·:*¨¨* donatello's pov *¨¨*:·.

i'm in the process of throwing the bouquet of flowers, when i hear a voice. it sounds familiar, and it sparks something. i shiver slightly and freeze, not making a sound.

"hello?" i call out, slightly nervous. not for the person, god no. they can blow up along with this horrible building for all i care.

a voice calls back, louder and i recognize it instantly. shit. "hello?" it's y/n, i should have seen this coming. disregard my previous statement, i have to get us out of here before we both blow up.

"y/n." i mutter, making sure she can't hear. i run in the opposite direction, hearing her coming. maybe i can get her to chase me out of here? i do not want her to see me like this.

i look down, remembering that i'm not wearing my usual costume but i've taken my battle shell off and my soft shell is covered by a purple sweatshirt.

i run, looking back in fear when i run into someone. a worker here at the museum, who probably has the personality of cardboard.

"that's a pretty tasteless costume." what? i mean, the sweater is not normal, but costume "costume?" i echo my thoughts out loud and he simply stares at me.

the worker pushing the cart rolls his eyes. "othello's head is not that grossly exaggerated." damn, i've had comments about my forehead before, but this is too far.

"and you even made a cheap replica of his bo-staff. how..." before he can go on about my staff, i quickly scan him and then disintegrate him. easy peasy, who's staff is cheap now?

doing this means i can upload his image to my holographic disguise. i flick it on and look myself over. the worker does look slightly like me, and it feels odd to be a human.

the usual weight of my shell is gone and i have an extra finger. weird. i move my hand to fiddle with the dreads and i reach into my pocket and pull out my purple bandana. an essential, to me, and i wrap it around, pulling the longer locs into a ponytail.

and in good time, i can hear y/n approaching. as soon as she comes, i rest on the cart the worker had been pushing and i attempt to look normal.

"hello? is someone there?" she turns the corner, a bit hesitant and i take in her appearance. y/n's still wearing her reporter fancy clothes and she looks as if she's been crying.

once y/n sees me, she breathes a sigh of relief. 'it's just you, donald." y/n smiles and walks up to me, and i watch her body relax.

i hate that name, donald. i suppose it wouldn't do any harm to use my real name. "uh, it's actually donatello." just saying it sounds weird but i watch y/n's face twist into one of confusion and then relax again.

"oh... alright. sorry about that." she shoots me an apologetic smile and holds her arm. her stance signals a small level of comfort i've never seen her show around me. y/n often shows confidence through her words, but her actions reveal more then that.

she nods, and i realize i've been staring for a good minute. "well, thank you for letting me stay."

i nod, as well, snapping out of it. i should probably tell her to leave too. "look, i wouldn't stay here for more than two minutes and 37 seconds if I were you. we're having the walls and ceiling removed."

i am aware that this doesn't make much sense but, eh. y/n seems to have bought it.

she seems stunned and looks up towards the roof and the buildings in it's entirety. "wow, that sounds like quite the renovation." y/n says, still surprised but she turns, ready to leave.

i move towards the elevator, frantically pushing the button. we have got to go. any minute this building could explode... and i feel a slight bit of responsibility for y/n.

she's definitely not helpless, i know this for sure. at the same time, leaving her here means she might get hurt, and i need to know that she will be safe. y/n's safety is important as...

i'm not sure why.

i just need to help her out on this one.

"i guess I'll catch a ride down with you then." she says, smiling lopsidedly and i feel a warm sensation in my chest. something must be wrong with this hologram system, i'll have to check that later.

i remind myself to run a diagnostic, and maybe check my vitals from my watch when i get back to the lab. when i stepped into the elevator, right next to y/n,  i suddenly felt warm. strange.
