The worst betrayal didn't come from my past "love."
It didn't come from any of my past "friends."
It didn't come from anyone unexpected.
It came from the woman who would sing me to sleep,
the woman who cared for me and raised me.
One day her words turned bitter,
I was never enough,
though I played the role of student, mother, and babysitter.
I cry though you say everything's alright,
but all you do is lie, lie, and lie.
You think I'm dumb and naive,
but you taught me better, didn't you mami?
Even being far away, the wounds you have left and keep leaving
always stay.
