The Virus of Emerald Hills (Sonadow)

Chapter 1 - The Beginning

“Sonic! We are running out of time! If we do not stop Eggman now, we will lose not only Emerald Hills but the whole of Mobius!” Tails cried out to his brother, Sonic could only nod. They were seriously losing this fight and there wasn’t much they could do. 

Looking around Sonic took notice of his team struggling to fight off all the robots of Eggman’s growing army, Amy and Knuckles were working together while Rouge and Omega took down any trying to sneak up on their backs. Silver and Blaze were using their powers as well as defending Cream and Tails from any dangers. It would seem this was the end of them all if they couldn’t work out what to do. 

For some stupid reason Eggman thought it would be a good idea to build a robot which could host the master emerald and six chaos emeralds all together. However, the doctor underestimated the power of the emeralds, especially when they came together. The power of the emeralds were combining with the master emerald opening rifts in the skies causing the universe to break apart, Emerald Hills had been shook by a sonic boom before but not this powerful, the master emerald was sending off waves of powers making many of them flinch with how raw it was. 

“Blue! Do we have a plan? How do we shut it down?!” Rouge yelled, flying overhead and knocking a robot out of the sky. Sonic frowned, trying to work out what to do while he took down the eggbots surrounding them. 

“Haha! Rat! This is the end! Time for Eggman land!” 

Sonic glared at the man who thought he was a genius only to screw up everything, the man didn’t realise how much energy the emeralds were giving off and it was passing straight through anyone with pure chaos. In other words, the mobians could all feel it especially Sonic and Silver, the two hedgehogs were using the raw energy to their advantage but it was causing them to get hurt meaning they couldn’t heal themselves. 

“We need to reverse the energy, too much is causing ripples in time! The power could destroy the zone we are in!” Tails yelled, Amy nodded, moving to whack another robot with her hammer. 

“How do we do that?” Sonic turned to his brother who shook his head only for them all to scramble out of the way of incoming rockets. 

“Hey blue! I count six emeralds! Where's the seventh?” Rouge shouted, appearing beside her favourite echidna who rolled his eyes at her. Knuckles swung her around helping her do a tornado kick. 

“I will give you one guess!” Silver grumbled, taking notice of the lack of a certain doctor who had disappeared for a few minutes only to reappear with what looked like a machine to scan for emeralds. 

“Sonic! What will happen if he finds the last emerald?” Amy cried out, Cream whimpered beside her. The hero in blue hadn’t a clue turning to Tails who frowned. 

“If he succeeds in finding the last emerald and combines it with the power, we will have a huge problem on our hands. The rifts will combine and it could cause an issue with our time, we could open a rift and destroy this emerald hills, the prime dimension” Blaze explained, as she and Silver had experienced something very similar in their own dimension after her supposed ‘death’ which reminded her, where was a certain black and red hedgehog?

“I know we are busy but will someone please explain where Shadow is?” Blaze’s question met sudden silence as Sonic forgot how to speak. Tails moved closer to him as they provided comfort for one another. 

“Oh you don’t know. Hun, Shadow died two years ago” Rouge whispered, “Sonic lost both his rival and lover” Knuckles added in a whisper, Sonic only turned around trying to work out what to do when an explosion in the robot belonging to Dr Eggman swiftly caught all attention. Silver and Blaze only shared a ‘look’, Shadow shouldn’t have been able to die, they knew it was impossible unless…

Another explosion occurred making them all take cover under Silver’s dome of chaos powers, Blaze frowned trying to work out something in her own mind while the robot almost imploded in on itself. 

“I’ve got it. If Sonic and Silver can use the power from the master emerald to go super, Knuckles should be able to direct the powers to you. There's a chance, you can send the chaos emeralds back to where they belong which will help separate the powers before…” 

Tails was interrupted by a wave of pure darkness shooting out of the master emerald hitting nearby plants and killing them by taking the life from them. 

“Oh god! We must get out of here now!” Blaze yelled, Silver shared a ‘look’ with her only to nod. 

“What! We don’t retreat” knuckles argued. 

“Agreed!” Omega added.

“If we don’t leave now the darkness will infect us and we will catch the same virus that killed most of our Mobius off by just being within six feet of the emeralds. The master emerald has been corrupted, if we don’t leave now. Anyone with chaos energy will begin to get sick and if their body doesn’t fight it, they will die leaving Mobius too rot. Silver, Sonic and Knuckles must get out of here and the rest of us should. Somewhere safe until the waves vanish which won’t be for a few hours but anything outside of this dome is affected. We do not have a choice, Silver teleport” Blaze ordered her partner who did as he was told, teleporting to what was an abandoned place in the future, only to be the HQ of the Freedom fighters in the present day. 

Bodies of individuals appeared in his vision as it went dark and Sonic the hedgehog was sent into an old memory of a recent event that happened two years prior to what they now knew as the ‘Virus day’. The day he lost Shadow.
