Today's challenge came to an end.
I don't know the specifics of what happened in the other two aspects, but from what Kouji told me and what Nakajima told the true, it seems we did decently to well in them.
As for the Vanguard aspect... Yamamoto broke the bad news for us. These were the rankings he told everyone.
1) Ryouta's Group
2) Mitsuba's Group
3) Yahagi's Group
4) Kirishimas' Group
5) Akihiro's Group
6) Nakajima's Group
7) Koishi's Group
8) Handa's Group
9) Yamaguchi's GroupTo no one's surprise, Ryouta's group won against Mitsuba's group. It was a clean sweep of three wins and zero losses.
He also explained that, since the results of the special exam would be announced tonight, Anjou-sensei withheld the number of cumulative points each group had earned.
Likewise, the same happened for Nakajima. It was slightly different for Kouji however, as no one who did the academic aspect knew how the groups ranked from that as the teachers had to mark the tests.
This was basically the school trying to prevent us from pooling our information together to try and figure out the rankings before they're even announced.
While that was certainly possible, since you could gauge a large chunk of the points earned by all the groups just from results of the Vanguard tournament alone, I personally didn't see the point of speculating when the school would just tell us in a few hours.
As long as the groups I want are on top, I don't care about the rest of the rankings.
In any case, we would find out the true impact this final challenge had on the special exam tonight at 10pm, as the school was going to announce them in the combined assembly hall, meaning all genders would be present for the announcements.
And once that was over, then our summer holiday would truly begin.
The time was 7pm. Nearly everyone had left their rooms to go eat dinner in the cafeteria, but I stayed behind for a certain reason.
At around 7:10pm, there was a knock on the door.
"Hello, is anyone there...?"
The voice on the other side was the person I was waiting for.
I got up from my bed and answered the door.
"Ryouta-san."
He stood on the other side, offering a wide smile.
"Ah, Takanori-san! Perfect, just the person I was looking for."
"I'm guessing this is about the chat you wanted to have?"
"Yes! Do you mind if we went to my group's room for it...?"
"That's fine."
Changing rooms, I felt a strange nostalgia walking inside as I had stayed here few nights before being traded away into Shimada's group.
As expected, nothing had noticeably changed since my departure. The only major difference was Kawaguchi's stuff was now on the bed I once laid in.
"Everyone else went to the cafeteria to eat, so it's just the two of us here. Please, make yourself comfortable."
I couldn't tell if Ryouta was trying to be accommodating or if he was preparing to have a long chat with me. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any reason for him to try and make the atmosphere as relaxed as possible.
Well, if I was going to go out of my way to do this, I might as well try to extract some information out of him while I'm at it. I obliged, taking a seat on the couch while Ryouta hobbled over to the drawers.
