Ever since I was a young child, I had always faded into the background. My presence was hardly acknowledged by others. I loved people watching, I was good at it. Hardly anyone noticed my eyes observing their every move, watching the way their fingers twitched or how some of them flinched at sudden movements or loud sounds. My stare had always gone unpunished... Until that fateful night. When I met Y/n, the first person who was completely conscious of my eyes - of my presence. The first person I couldn't make any assumptions about, a mystery to my analytical eyes. An anomaly.

Your lips curled into a smile, you had stopped expecting this call by now, so to say it was a surprise after six days was an understatement. "Choso? Have you decided on how much I owe you?" - you always had a disdain towards owing people a favor or money, despite you being utterly broke you just wanted to get the payment out of the way. You heard light music in the background before he spoke, it seemed like he was constantly listening to music "you don't owe me anything.. That's not what I'm calling about." The line went silent, you waited expecting him to finish his sentence ... after a few moments of silence you spoke up "What are you calling about then?" The music quietly played in the background, you could only really hear it when he spoke "...Your stitches, I need to take them out now -" it felt as if that wasn't the only reason behind him calling, maybe you were just overthinking it. "Oh, right.. When should I come over?" you hesitated before continuing "Are you sure that's it though?"

"Are you sure that's it though?" I looked down, before returning my gaze forward and leaning back in my seat, I felt my lips curl upwards 'How interesting, she did it again. How is it that she could see through my monotone voice, and my emotionless words?'
"I'm sure.. Can you come now?"

You arrived at the building, you had never seen it in all its glory before but it was definitely what you were expecting. A tall apartment building, in the best part of the city. It was well kept as well. You looked down at your phone looking at the apartment number he had provided to you 'floor 10, room 8'.
You had made it, instead of knocking you texted him that you were there, it just felt more natural. He answered the door, he had his usual expressionless face as he spoke to you "Hey, come in." He moved to the side allowing you to walk in, closing the door behind him. It was silent for a few moments before he spoke again "You can follow me, and I'll get started." He led you into the room you were in before. You sat down on the same bed, with a different towel under you, he got prepared to start, putting gloves on, removing your bandage and getting his tools. It was silent, 'god this is so awkward.. I mean maybe I shouldn't bother him?' he began removing your stitches one at a time, you nibbled on the skin on your lip contemplating if you should speak or not. "Soo.. umm, I'm curious, what do you do for work?" you quickly explained your question after a moment of silence "it's just because your house is really nice - im just curious how you afford this.." Your question seemed to catch him off guard as he briefly paused from removing your stitches, he answered bluntly "Accounting" - though his answer seemed dishonest and ingenuine you didn't pry any further and just hummed "I see.." and with that. the awkward silence returned.
As he began removing the last stitch, you started paying attention to every detail around you. The lighting in the room, the picture on the nightstand which consisted of Choso and a few guys with a small signature on the bottom of it that read '-Yuji'. You also started paying attention to the music that had been softly playing, "I've rejected affection for years and years" the song softly sang. Finally, the last stitch was out. "Done." He mumbled out, seemingly tired. You looked down to analyze the scar located on your abdomen, you sucked on your teeth in disappointment "Damn, that sucks.." you commented. He looked kind of confused as his eyes fell down to the scar as well "What?" he had assumed you were disappointed at his work. "I have this big ass scar now.." you complained - while he continued staring at it, he spoke in a genuine tone now "It's cool.." before you could respond - in an attempt to comfort you he pulled his black t-shirt up revealing quite a few scars, but also revealing his entire torso. You looked away quickly, awkwardly laughing 'what the hell?... he is pretty fit though - I mean those abs-' you quickly snapped out of it as concern filled your voice "What happened? Where did all of those come from?" He seemed hesitant to respond as he lowered his shirt back down, his half lidded eyes glanced away and then held eye contact with you "part of the job." he responded. 'What..? Part of being an accountant is... this? What is he talking about?..'
You stayed at his home a while longer, in that time, you got to know him. Though it felt like he was leaving out certain details, leaving an empty space in your perception of him. But we all need some privacy.. Right? You learned that he's very family oriented, and that he's been quiet his whole life, you also learned he was somewhat of a stoner. He piqued your interest, you couldn't get enough of him. Considering he was still getting used to you - you had to be bold, which is something you weren't necessarily used to, but you needed to know more.
"Hey Choso, why don't we go somewhere for dinner, just you and I?"
