"still you take up all my mind"

You weren't sure when you had fallen asleep, nor did you even realize that you had - until you woke up the next morning, in the same bed, on the same towel. Immediately you searched the room for the "intimidating presence"- his name was Choso wasn't it? Where did he go? He wasn't in the room. You slowly stood up, the pressure of standing making you wince. Suddenly the traumatizing memories of last night flooded your clouded mind, cringing, you walked out of the room, in search of the man. You explored the home, until you reached the kitchen. Noticing a plate of food covered with plastic wrap, a small letter laid next to it on the counter.

"Y/n L/n -

Something came up, sorry. If you're still in pain please take the pills located to your left. After you eat:

-Check in on your wound, make sure you keep it dry today.

-Replace your bandage with a new one - the bandages are in the cabinet under the sink.

-After today - wash your wound twice a day with lukewarm water and soap, replace the bandage frequently.

I'll be back soon - if anything is wrong with the food feel free to treat yourself to any of the food in the fridge or pantry.

-Choso Kamo"

'Must he be so formal? He does seem to be genuinely concerned though..' You ignored his instructions, but glanced slightly to the left, noticing the pills he had left you. You returned your gaze at the food in front of you, rice and miso soup. Grunting, you sat down and ate the dish slowly, having been stabbed in your abdomen - naturally you struggled to eat. You looked around his home while taking small bites, he lived in a studio apartment, with a direct view of the city out of the giant windows. His home was furnished lavishly with marble countertops, he even had a chandelier that hung above the island at which you were eating. You pulled your phone out of your back pocket, it had been there since when you had started work yesterday - you took it off of dnd only to be berated with notifications. Your roommate, Kaori, was the first notification you opened -

You couldn't blame her for being worried - besides you didn't want to be a bother to this guy any longer. You looked at the counter where his note was, you grabbed the pen that was laying near the note and flipped the note over, quickly scribbling your words: "I didn't get the chance to thank you, did I? Well thank you - seriously I owe you big time.. I don't have the money to pay you back now but I'll get it to you once I can! Name your price: xxx-xxx-xxxx." After you scribbled your number you turned the lights off and left the building making way towards your home.

It had been about six days since the incident, you had already explained to Kaori what happened only for her to respond "I told you you should have killed that psycho ex of yours". Your stitches were still in, but you had heard nothing from Choso. You began to wonder if you would have to go to the hospital to get the stitches removed - how would you explain why you had stitches in the first place? Despite the stitches growing mildly uncomfortable you had followed Chosos directions - tending to your wound twice a day. You had quit the daytime job you once worked after your near death experience.

Hours passed, the only thing, oddly enough, on your mind was Choso. You wondered what would have happened if you had waited for him to return, did he seriously save you over some coffee? Your thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing sound of your phone. An unknown number? It can't be.. Can it? You answered after four rings.

"Hello? Who's this?" You could practically hear the hopeful smile in your voice -

The raspy, tired voice spoke, his words flowed like water.

"It's Choso, y/n."
