SONG OF THE CHAPTER: Gold by Byron Langley

Anna's POV

It was nearing 4am and everyone but myself and Pete had fallen asleep.
"Imma go to bed." I say yawning.
"Okay. Marvels still in your bed isn't she? Want me to move her to my bed?"
"Nah she's okay, she can stay there I don't mind."
"What about James?"
"He's fine on the couch." I nod towards the couch that my boyfriend had sprawled himself across.
"Alright." he smiles amused. "Goodnight A."
"Night Pete."

I sleepily stumbled up the stairs and change in the bathroom into my pjs. I slip under the covers next to Marvel who was still sleeping soundly, even after our New Years celebrations. It doesn't take long for myself to fall asleep, listening to the pitter patter of the rain that had begun to fall.

The sunlight streams into my room far too soon for my liking. I must have forgotten to close the blinds before I went to sleep. I roll over and find that Marvel had gone and could hear her laughter from downstairs.
"Shh people are still asleep darling." I hear Megan's voice tell her.

I get out of bed and brush my hair to be presentable. I wander downstairs and Marvel spots me.
"Anna!"
"Hello gorgeous." I smile and give her a hug.
"You're up early for you?" Dad says as I hug him.
"Oh sorry love did we wake you up?" Megan asks apologetically. I shake my head and explain the sunlight and blind situation. I make myself a cup of coffee and sit down next to where James was still sleeping. He mutters something ineligible.

"Wake up time." I tell him and he mutters something again.
"What was that?"
"It's too early."
"If I'm awake, you're awake."
He grunts but opens his eyes.
"Morning bub."
"Hello." I grin and sip my coffee.
"Why did I agree to sleeping on the couch." He asks and sits up, stretching his back.
"You were the one that slept on the couch you could have had the inflatable mattress."
"Oh so now you tell me."
"You've lived here for like ever, you know these things."
He shrugs and goes upstairs, probably to get dressed or showered.

Dad hands me a bowl of cereal, I smile a thanks and flick through the morning channels.
"Why is there nothing good on?" I complain as I skip past all the news channels, they only ever showed depressing news stories.
"Gotta make the world more depressed." Pete says and flops down next to me.
"Apparently so." I mutter and switch over to YouTube and watch some old Dan and Phil videos.
"You still watch them?"
"Yeah, they're comforting." I shrug.
"What's the plan for today?" He asks me, taking a bit of his toast. I shrug in response, I was quite tired still.
"You alright?"
"Yeah just tired."
"Go back to bed."
"Maybe later."

I finished my coffee and cereal and watch a few more YouTube videos. James was still upstairs so I went to find him.

"Hey. Whatcha doing?" I ask him when I find him in our room tying his shoes.
"I'm going to head out with Peter for a bit. Bye."
"Uh wha-" but he had already gone.

"Hey A, we're gonna head out we- you good?" Pete walks in and sees my confused face.
"Yeah just- oh it's nothing. What's up? You're going?"
"Yeah we have a few errands to run. You sure you're good?"
"Yeah." I smile. "Have fun I'll see you soon."
"Oh yes you have a meeting next week with the label."
I nod and yawn. "Okay, see you then."
"Go back to bed A."
"Yeah I might."

I hug the rest of the family and wave them goodbye downstairs.
"Where did James disappeared to?" Mum asks.
"Went to hang out with Peter."
She nods and dad asks me if I want to join him in the studio.
"I'd love to dad but I'm so tired so I'm just going to try and have a nap."
"Alright darling. Let me know if you need anything."
I nod and head back upstairs. I close my blinds and lay on my bed.
