It was the end of the first week at the dojo.
It certainly hadn't been easy, but you were a long ways away from quitting.
'Jungkook', you learned his name was, had managed to leave you alone most days. Although, it seemed as if your presence in the gym really pissed him off. More, and more so every day that you showed up.
Maybe it was because his warning to you had gone in one ear, and out the other. And now, you'd built up a mutual hatred for him too.
The constant sly comments and overbearing death-glares, didn't ease off, but you minded your business. You kept your headphones on, and hit your punching bag for as long as you could, completely ignoring the two holes Jungkook's eyes were burning in the back of your skull.
His other friend, Taehyung, seemed to have a very similar animosity towards you. You couldn't quite work out why, but you let go of the need to understand on your very first day.
After stretching and warmups were over with, you and the others gathered together to heed the teachers' instructions. You kept your eyes on him and refused to look to your left, where you could feel Jungkook staring.
"Sparring again, today. Groups of two, as always."
You resisted the urge to eyeroll.
There was no one in the class even remotely close to you in terms of skill. That meant you were partnered up with someone miles ahead of you, or refused a partner all together, and forced to train alone on the bags.
Since the last few days had been full of consistent bag time, you were prepared for that to be your fate today.
The chaos around you as everyone picked their partners didn't phase you. You walked through the tall crowd, and melted around the boys rather than pushed through. You headed for the bags, content with it.
Until someone grabbed your arm.
A glance over your shoulder reveals Jungkook, a smile so big and mean, it looked like his face was about to split in two. You'd never seen this expression on him; it was beyond unnerving.
"You're my partner today."
Your initial reaction was to squint harshly at him, to assure you had not just heard him wrong. And then, the look in his eye made his intentions suddenly crystal-clear.
"Oh, no. I'm good."
You turn away and start heading towards the bags before Jungkook grabbed your t-shirt by the back of your collar, and spun you around.
"Wasn't asking." he half-carries you and you cant place your feet properly on the ground, he leads you to the boxing ring.
He rests his right arm against one of the ropes, a conceded smile on his face as he pulls you in beside him, and puts his left arm around your shoulders.
He squeezes you much harder than necessary, making sure you weren't going to squirm away.
You move your hands up to grab his forearm and try at least attempt to alleviate some of the pressure so you could breathe without so much struggle.
He was not budging.
Jeez, what is he playing at?
Jungkook doesn't say a word to you as the sparring rounds begin. He just holds you real close and tight, waiting for his turn.
------
"Next up!"
Jungkook must have been ready for this moment for a very long time, as he jumps to action with plenty of spring in his step.
