Jungkook is happy to be home.

Or, back to your home at least.

He hated the idea of leaving you on such bad terms. In an ideal world, he would have stayed in the heat of that conversation until you were on the exact same page.

Until he could extract the truth from you. The truth that was obviously waiting on the tip of your tongue, and was going to liberate you if you'd just let it free.

But the world was far from perfect, as was he.

His anger had gotten in the way. His jealousy, his misunderstanding. He could not, for the life of him, understand why you cared more about the others' opinions on your relationship, than the actual relationship itself.

He wanted you to just let go. For your own sake.

But he didn't care for that right now. He knew there would be another chance for you to have that conversation. For now, he is much too busy juggling two boxes of pizza as he opens your unlocked door and makes his way into the home.

"Food's here," Jungkook calls out into the quiet halls, slipping off his shoes and closing the door behind him. He makes a note of locking it.

Jungkook heads inside and places the pizza on the bench and when there is still no reply, and no sound of a shower running, he raises an eyebrow.

"Y/N?"

He wanders deeper into the room, into the hall where your bedroom meets the rest of the house, and he does a circle to look around.

And, there you are.

You're asleep on the couch.

His mouth falls open as he looks at you curled up on your side, your arms crossed and your face adorably sleepy. On the coffee table in front of you, there are two empty plates, and two of Jungkook's favourite beers waiting.

He hears his heart crack in his chest.

He was too late...

Beyond disappointed with his own tardiness, Jungkook walks over to you with a rain cloud following him. He kneels down beside you on the couch, and stares at you for a moment.

He listens for your tiny breaths, and smiles at your unmasked features. He isn't quite sure what it is about sleep that makes a person seem so soft. So quiet and happy and safe. Sleep is so inherently good, that even in unconsciousness, humans are happy. Tranquil, and peaceful right down to their cores.

He likes seeing you relaxed. It's a new look for you.

He wants to see more of it. More of you in general, in every area of life. He wants to learn all of your different expressions, not just aggression and dismissal. He wants to know you, to know where you're ticklish, and where you like to be touched and what foods you don't like. He wants to know how you have your coffee. He wants to learn every little detail about you, even if it takes him forever.

And he'll start tomorrow.

Jungkook's cheeks feel warmer than usual, and he decides it would be best to get you to the comfort of your own bed.

So he stands up and slides his arms under your body. He uses his core to move you with as much grace and care as possible. He handles you like you're made of feathers, and holds you close as he carries you to your bedroom.

By some miracle, you stay asleep.

He places you into the bed of the dark room, and is very gentle when he pulls the blanket up over your shoulder.
