If you want to draw someone, you have to use a reference or model and stay close to them so you won't forget the important details. What to figure out:
1. The headshape. Is their head closer to a circle or an oval? Is the chin pointy or round?
2. The facial features. How big are the eyes? Small or big with lots of white in them? Is the nose a circle or a triangle? How long is the bridge? What's the shape of the lips? What expression are they making? How thick are the eyebrows?
3. The body shape. Are they skinny, chunky, or average? Please get this right, no body shaming!
4. The skin color. What is the main color? How does the lighting affect it?
5. The hair. Notice the texture, main shape, sections, and color.
6. Are you going to draw a headshot, just up to the shoulders, just up to the torso, just up to the torso and some part of the legs, or the full body? How much of the body will be shown?
7. The pose. What pose are they making?
8. The clothes. What are they wearing? Any accessories?
