"Ah, it appears we're almost ready to depart" Professor Fig announced excitedly.

We were stood in a dimly-lit alley near the outskirts of London. Fig was busy loading up the carriage with my abundance of suitcases, whilst I stood watching him awkwardly. I felt like a loose part. Like I'd forgotten how to be human. My legs felt shaky and I'm pretty sure I'd forgotten how to breathe properly.

Today marks the day that everything changes.

The day I leave my life in London behind to attend Hogwarts. I was leaving my friends, my family, everything I've ever known... I was leaving my entire life behind.

My hands grew clammy. Why am I doing this? Is this a mistake? I look up at Fig who's already looking at me empathetically. He can always tell what I'm thinking.

"You'll be fine Juliet, I know you will. I've never seen anyone take so quickly to a second-hand wand, I know you'll be a force to be reckoned with when you get your own". All I could muster up was a less than convincing smile.

I haven't known Professor Fig long but he's been so good to me already. He spent the entire summer teaching me the basics of magic, making sure I was prepared and mostly caught up with the other students. I still feel completely out of my depths but Fig has always been there to reassure me that everything is going to be fine.

I took a deep breath. "Thank you Professor-" before I could finish my sentence George Osric apperated in front of us.

"Eleazar!" He announced.

Fig had mentioned that George would be travelling with us, they were old friends and apparently they had important business to discuss.

We all climbed into the carriage and began our journey to Hogwarts. George kept telling me how lucky I was to have a mentor like Fig and Fig kept saying how remarkable it was to have been accepted into Hogwarts as a fifth-year.

It was all so endearing but I didn't want to hear any of it. I was so nervous. Hogwarts sounded so different to everything I've ever known and all I could think about was if my mouth could possibly get any dryer.

George pulled out a newspaper and the tone suddenly shifted. "Have you seen this?"

Fig nodded.

The front page of the newspaper read 'Goblin rebellion. Truth or Gobbledegook?'. They began talking about a Goblin called Ranrok and whether he did actually pose a threat or not.

I knew I should have been listening but I just couldn't concentrate. I starting playing with my sleeves nervously and looked out the carriage window at the clouds. I could see a dark figure emerging between them... it was a dragon. I was mesmerised, my jaw nearly hit the floor. I've never seen a dragon before and there it was in plain view, right before my eyes. I turned to look at Fig excitedly but I realised they were talking about Fig's late wife, Miriam.

Apparently she had mentioned Ranrok to George months ago, she wanted to know what the Ministry knew about him, Fig had no idea. George pulled out a small metallic case with strange markings along the outside.

"Miriam sent me this just before she died. There was no correspondence, so I assume she had to get rid of it quickly". Fig took the case from him to inspect it.

"Whatever magic protects this is very powerful indeed. I've tried everything and I cannot open it" George continues.

Fig shows the case to me and starts describing how it's made of goblin metal.
