Author notes: Just a little update, I've decided to set this in modern day, it won't change much but it'll make it a lot easier to write and I can make it slightly more relatable :)

"Professor Fig! You're back!" I was completing my daily routine of checking his office to see if he'd returned from the ministry and was overjoyed when I saw him stood by the fireplace enjoying a cup of tea. Without giving it a second thought, I ran up to him, holding him in a tight embrace. Nearly a week had passed since the party in the Slytherin common room and I'd spent a lot of time hiding away in my Room of Requirement. I was following Poppy's advice and giving Ominis the silent treatment, which unfortunately meant Seb was caught in the cross fire. I knew he'd push me to visit Anne with him and I simply just wasn't ready.

"Juliet!" Fig replied, trying not to spill his tea as I grabbed him. "What a warm welcome back, I didn't think I was gone long enough for you to miss me".

I released him, feeling a little embarrassed. "Sorry, I've just had a lot going on". Figs eyes were full of concern. "Just girl stuff" I quickly interjected, not wanting to spend the next ten minutes filling Fig in on my dating life, or lack there of it.

"Oh" he replied softly whilst taking a sip of his tea. I could tell he felt a sense of awkwardness. He didn't have kids of his own and it was obvious he had no idea how to approach this subject.

"Ready to see the map chamber?" I asked trying to steer the conversation in any other direction. "Of course, lead the way" he replied, clearly overjoyed at the subject change.

Fig was taken aback by the map chamber. He introduced himself to Percival Rackham and we listened as he explained the importance of ancient magic and how I'd undergo multiple trials to prove whether I'm worthy of fully understanding it or not.

It was a strange feeling. I hadn't asked for these abilities, but as I stood there in the map chamber, I felt like I was being punished for having them. Rackham was practically shouting at me, telling me to complete these dangerous trials on my own, to prove myself and to test my abilities. I felt like his toy. I really couldn't shake the feeling that he was enjoying this.

Fig began explaining everything that had happened with Ranrok and the dragon attack and before I knew it we set off to complete the first trial.

Me and Fig found ourselves stood outside San Bakar's Tower. The grounds were clearly old and turning to rubble but there was still so much beauty here. I found myself admiring the grounds as we crept up the hill using the disillusionment charm. The sun was shining on us and a flock of Jobberknoll even flew overhead singing loudly. I almost lost myself in the moment when Fig stopped me and pointed towards the castle. It was completely overrun with Ranroks loyalists. I looked over at the surrounding mountains one last time, knowing that in any other situation, I'd feel at peace here.

Fig pushed me towards the entrance where a lone, unsuspecting goblin was stood with his back towards us. He was mumbling under his breath about Ranrok, saying 'there must be something here'.

"They're looking for something" I whispered, turning to Fig behind me. I quickly realised he wasn't there and started to panic. I squinted my eyes, frantically searching for his outline as he remained invisible. I noticed a slight shimmer approaching the oblivious goblin and watched curiously. It was Fig. He reached for his wand and without a word held it to the goblin. Time felt like it stopped.

Black ash crept up the goblins skin, taking over its body silently; sucking away any signs of life. The goblin became so hauntingly still. Fig stepped back, removing the disillusionment charm and looking over at me proudly. The goblin fell to the ground having turned completely to stone and shattered into a million pieces.
