The lights bobbed mockingly, "She will go after the warrior, Sun Wukong. He is tied to her."

Wukong exhaled through his nose, "Can't we...can't we make another deal?" The lights laughed, circling him in a bubbly manner, "Perhaps we could. What do you propose, hm? Would you like to hold magic that can take her iron grip away from him?"

The monkey tiredly nodded, "Yes. What do I need to do? I promised to keep him safe-!"

"We will change fate, we will change your history into something even you won't know. A karma of sorts, if you will."

Wukong's eyes drooped sleepily, "Deal...It's a deal." The lights hummed and laughed, turning a red haze momentarily, "You have gained some of your magic. It is enough for us to carry out our end of the deal. Until you rest once more, we will speak again, Sun Wukong."

Macaque shuffled out of the king's arms, fur bristling in alarm. Wukong wasn't breathing--

A cough rang out as the ginger sat up, blinking owlishly. He turned to the warrior, eyes half-lidded.

"...Oh, is it morning..?" He moved off of the bed, and began to change. Macaque yelped, looking away, "Seriously?!"

Wukong blinked, "...We aren't like humans, Mac. We used to go to hot springs together with the other monkeys, remember?"

The warrior knew that, but he wasn't as casual as before. Wukong sighed, "I'm sorry, I'll leave so you can change."

Macaque blinked, confusion clouding his mind.

The king had no fight in him.

---

"Macaque is staying with us?! Macaque, the SAME DUDE who tricked us?" MK gave his mentor a frazzled look as the king nodded, "Yep. Mac is gonna be on our side, so why not!"

MK continued to sputter, throwing his hands into the air.

Macaque nervously stood beside the sage, glaring down the team as they glared back at him. Wukong suddenly grabbed the warrior's hand, "And I think I have a solution for your whole 'LBD' situation."

The ginger uncharacteristically grinned cheekily, batting his eyes at the shadow user.

Mei huffed in suspicioun towards the shadow user, "What 'LBD' situation?" Wukong waved his hand, "Oh, nothing I can't fix. I think I have this weird power, maybe it can help. Let's see..."

He murmured for a second, pressing the warrior's hands against his temples.

Macaque yelped as a small wave of heat buzzed through his body, Wukong letting out a similar sound of surprise.

The cold chain binding his soul suddenly crumbled, but did not fully break away. Yet, it was enough to cut away most of her control over him. Macaque pulled his hands back to himself, staring at the king with wide eyes, "What was that?"

Wukong nervously shrugged, "I don't really know..?" MK frowned, "Macaque glowed blue for a bit, does that mean he's okay or..?" Pigsy huffed, running a hoofed hand down his face, "Can somebody just explain what's goin' on already?"

"I have this...magic of sorts. I don't know what it is, but it managed to nearly cut away LBD's hold over Macaque. There are still bits of it, but not enough to be too problematic." The monkey suddenly yawned, rubbing his cheek, "And that actually took a lot out of me... Wait wait wait! Sorry."

He turned to Sandy, "DBK's new fortress should be somewhere towards the west of the desert up ahead. It's pretty big, with lava and stuff." Macaque bristled, "Why are we heading over there? Last I checked they're trying to keep to themselves."
