It was my phone's alarm that woke me up.

Iyong parang biglang mulat ang nangyari dahil sa lakas nito. Tuloy, agad akong napaupo para patayin ito at tinignan ang tabi.

"Huuu thank you at wala na siya. Takot ko lang kung magising ko ang lalaking 'yun."

I prepped myself up bago bumaba. As usual, nandun si Calvin na bumungad sa'kin na may pagkaganda-ganda ng ngiti sa labi.

Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin. "Naku Calvin.." Per his request, hinahaluan ko ng Tagalog words ang paguusap namin para raw masanay ulit siya. "That smile of yours. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Me no like."

"Haha! Good morning Thea. You're not going to work today?"

"I'm working from home today, and yeah, good morning." I got my own coffee took a sip of it matapos kong timplahan bago nagsalita. "Okay Calvin, spill it. Anong meaning ng that smile of yours?"

"What? What smile?"

"Suuus! Don't me, Calvin. I know you wanted to say something so spill the beans."

"Can't I just be happy for a beautiful morning today?"

I blinked. "It's raining outside, Calvin. Anong kalokohan ang trip mo ngayon?"

"Hahaha! Having a rain is a blessing, Thea."

"Right." Siningkitan ko siya. "What did Your Majesty say this time?"

Nag-fake gasp siya. "Huh? What do you mean?"

Ginaya ko fake gasp niya. "Huh? What do you think I mean? Jusko, you're like that because something happened with him or he said something you agreed with." I put my hand up. "Wait, is it confidential? 'Coz if it is, then never mind."

Umiling siya. "It is not. And Mr. Valentine really didn't say anything."

"Sooo.. nag-imahinasyon ka ganun?"

"What?"

"Wala! What I meant to say is if he didn't say anything, why you in a good mood? And don't you dare say it's because of a 'good morning' today. Laos na 'yang palusot na 'yan."

Tumawa ulit siya at nag-hands up as if saying he's surrendering. "Well, Thea? The reason why I am in a good mood is because I am very glad that it was you who got the role of Mr. Valentine's switched-wife."

Oh.

"Aw, thanks Calvin." At dahil umarangkada na naman ang bibig kong walang-preno, huli na nang marealize ko na nadulas ako sa bagay na aking narinig noong Day One. "I was purposely and personally chosen by Barbie to be with her husband because she trusts that he wouldn't even bat his eyes on me, so hearing you say that makes me feel better in a non-condescending way. Thank you again."

The way his face changed from all smiling to an irritated one was my wake up call of what I just said.

"What do you mean purposely and personally chosen?"

"Uhh.." Napalunok ako. "Nothing, Calvin. Don't worry about it." Nagsimula na akong maglakad para kunin ang laptop sa may counter. "I'll be upstairs okay?"

"Thea wait --"

I ran. "Lateerss!"
